My swing at a GT350

Soem int he photoshops section thought it would be a good idea to post this in the 2010 section, so here it is.

I had an idea about a Ecoboost V6 based GT350. Possible sold like a Shelby GT500. So I made a photoshop mock up:

I REALLY like this. Add IRS and you have an ideal present day SVO.
However with the advent of the 5.0 the EB isnt going to happen in a Shelby. I'm pretty sure the car will stick to its roots with a "small block" v8. I'm sure the car will emulate the 65-66 GT350 fairly closely and I doubt it will be anywhere near as "tame" as the Shelby GT "rebadgemobile". Expected it to be much faster then a '11 GT and much more expensive, like at least 2x... but with the development and specs to justify it. It will probably get around a track much quicker and more confidently then a KR as well. I think its going to be much more advanced then the KR or SS with lots of attention on putting very adequate power down (as opposed to excess power up in smoke like the SS). This should be by far the most seriously developed of the Shelby S197's so far as it is intended to live up to the 65 GT350 namesake. Being a modern car however, I doubt it will be anywhere as spartan as the originals. There should be an R model coming for that.

Yes, but the early GT350s were pretty clean and devoid of scoops! They are very stripped down cars.

Nice chop...I saw a chevy emblem on the driver front wheel though. I love the HRE P40s though.

Based on all the other late model Shelby's I have seen coming out of Vegas I am confident it will have plenty of non-functional appearance items to justify the higher price.

This one is fairly short on "non-functional appearance items".

Thank guys. I like the feedback. I wish I had the opportunity to make a car like this. I wished the same for my Z/28 concept from about a year ago. But we have what we have.

After seeing the released pics of the GT350 im gravely disappointed. From what it appears, it doesnt even look like a OEM quality fitment full bumper kit. It looks to be like a poor quality Xenon add-on kit with a molded on OEM hood scoop option. And performance-wise, Im disappointed. I hate today tuners' (Saleen, Steeda, Shelby) "just slap on a SC, big brake, shocks, and body kit" approach. I like to see something that an average joe gearhead wouldnt do to his GT.

I mean at least the GT500 has a different engine all together from the GT, thus making a different car. I have the same standard for a GT350. I still think someone is missing out on a good Ecoboost opportunity here. Its there. The Ecoboost V6 is the jelly and the Mustang is the peanut butter. Someone make it happen.

Totally agree. The "real" one looks very rushed, like they just slapped it together at the last second.

I bet once the F-150 version of the EB (longitudinally mounted) someone will do that. But, really, that is a HUGELY expensive heart transplant for an engine that could weigh more but get's less power and has a lower modification ceiling.
