My quest for a Mustang GT 5.0 (used)...
Quick introduction, then questions below...
My first car was a '65 Mustang 289. It's been 23 years, and almost 20 cars since then (one of them an '08 Mustang GT). I'm currently in a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L. The utility is really nice and the AWD makes me feel safe in the rainy PNW, but I'm sick of paying $510/mo pmt. + $275/mo. in gas (13.5mpg mixed driving). My goal is to save some money, but still feel passion for my car (e.g. no Civics, Focus, or Prius).
So, I'm thinking about going back to a Mustang. I guess I'm just drawn to them. Where else can I get a vehicle that has 400+ hp, fun to drive, 20 mpg (mixed), and looks hawt? All for aprox. $25K. While not exactly a economy car, I figure between payment and gas I'll save about $240/mo.
So my search begins for a 2011+ 5.0L Black coupe 6-speed with as many of the following as possible: Nav, Brembo, Calif. Special, HID's, glass room, etc. I realize I won't get all that, but the more the better!
I found this 2011 for $25K available locally. It has 9k miles and comes with Brembo pkg, HID's, striped seats, and scoups. Looks great, and I love the low miles. Is the $25K price fair? How much should I really plan to pay for a car like this?

One thing that is frustrating is that I can't seem to find any Black 6-speeds with Nav. Did they not build a lot of Mustangs with Nav? Should I really care? I don't need it for Nav, I just like them for the BIG interface to the radio and other data.

The factory navigation cost $2395 as it was bundled with dual zone climate control and jukebox/harddrive, making it a very expensive option that very few people opt for. It cleans up the center stack, but as you noted, you don't really need it and this black Brembo GT is a great price.
Assuming this car has a clear vehicle history report, I think you should buy it promptly!

That's a really good price for such low miles. I paid similar money this past summer for my used black 2011 GT with 14,000 miles. Considering the car your looking at retailed for something close to $40g's with those options, $25's a steal (probably because of the season there trying to sell cheap so it's not sitting on the lot over the winter). Still, see if they'll take $24,000!
BTW, also a fellow '12 Grand Cherokee V8 owner. Went from owning two 4 cyl. Audi's w/ good gas mileage to two V8 American gas hogs. But I'm having more fun!!!!

Are they calling that Certified Pre Owned? The extended warranty that brings is what pushed me over the edge when I got my '12 w/7500 miles. Hadn't bought 'used' anything in like 25 years... but glad I did.

I think it is a very good price based on equipment and mileage. As noted above, I would buy it myself. I would also look at edmunds.com. It has a pricing tool to give you a pricing idea and also links to local cars that are for sale. While I don't consider this site the final word, it does give you an idea of what the going price is to begin your negotiation.

Is the car from a Ford dealer? I can't quite decide from the pic... If not, it may be a good idea to get it checked by one to see if any tunes were done to it. Not because tunes are bad, but because they may be held against you re warranty if something goes wrong.
But that's just me, I'm always wary of newish performance cars at non-brand dealers because brand dealers (i.e. Ford here) always keep the best ones. But as recent threads here show, there are plenty of reasons people get rid of almost-new cars that have nothing wrong with them.

thats a really good price compared to southern california used ones,
when I was in the market I couldnt find something under 28k unless it was barebones and had 20-30k miles on it.

yes that is a really good price. I've been watching 11 gt's in my area too because I plan on picking up one next year for strictly a track car and I'm seeing them in the 26-27 range for the same options/mileage in my area.

yeah that price sounds too good to be true. I would make sure the body is free from any major dent or dings and also check the history report to make sure nothing is amiss.

a co-worker of mine went looking at a 65 mustang last week, timing belt was off, she knew it, they denied it. Car needed way more work than they wanted to admit. At least this car is on carfax and you can take it to a dealer to check for aftermarket tunes.
my co-worker was told she couldn't take the 65 to her mechanic. Guess what, she didn't buy. Ask the tough questions, if they say no, they are hiding things from you.
With that out of the way... LOL
GREAT car, and a great price! We have prices like that up here in So-OR so if all works out I wish you luck - just be careful of used cars and do your homework.

By this time, I hope you already pulled carfax on it, and did a thorough walk through inside and out of the vehicle. Then, you'll be able to make an informed decision based on condition, history, and finally, price.

I made an offer on the car on Friday via email. It's tricky because it involves a trade. Essentially, I offered full asking price on the Mustang if the dealer (a Jeep store) would give me what I owe on the Grand Cherokee, which is right at NADA trade-in value, and well bellow KBB trade in value. Seems like a fair deal... I pay them asking price if they are straight up on my trade (e.g. not gouging me for thousands below low book).
The response I got from the dealer was that despite book value my car was actually worth thousands less (so much for working with a Jeep store). He asked me if I had any room to move. I responded that I'd be willing to eat $1,500 on the Jeep. Boom... ball's back in his court. However, since that reply I haven't heard from the guy.
