My new MMD short antenna broke
Had it for a week...window tint was fixed, car ran through car wash (Not by me) and all that remained was a bolt in the antenna base. Lucky a small wrench took care of that...
So a dremel to my stock antenna, and we're back in business. I will clean the end with sand paper, and plasti dip the antenna - I think the actual DIP not the spray would work better. Or maybe just black paint?

No popping - why would that happen? Reception was slightly degraded, however, not enough to care. I need to clean up the tip, hope that makes a difference - if not, I will go back to stock.

Hey Earl,
Although I have to admit, your DIY job looks great, I hate to hear about the MMD antenna, it should definitely not break like that!
At your earliest convenience, shoot me over your order # and I will have your card refunded AND have a new antenna sent out to you at no cost.
Hope this helps and I'm looking forward to hearing back from you!
-Will
On the old style rod antenna if the little ball on the tip was removed it would build a static charge causing a audible pop noise to be heard while listening to the radio.
