So How many miles? I was getting bad mileage in the first 1000 but now with over 1600 the mileage has been getting better, just takes time I'm assuming. Was getting about 15 when i first got the car, now im up to about 23 or so hopefully it keeps improving.

Just adding my two cents here. One of the easiest diagnostics you can do for ANY car is know the average fuel economy. Keep checking it and any sudden drop in the average then your human car check light should go off!

Hmmm, I too was getting 10-11 in town when I first got the car, as well doing conservative shifting while trying to break her in gently. I haven't done a full tank in town in a while to see how I do now, but I will be watching closely since it seems to be wrong.

at 70 I am generally running 2100 RPMs and getting 24-25 MPG on the freeway according to the computer but will watch this one too.

Thanks for the thread! Had no idea it could be a problem!

Well how long have you had it? Because my car, a sixxer, was barely gettin 12-15mpg for a couple weeks as i was driving it. Im sure its part of the break-in system and its not reflecting actual mpg's at first. Just reset your tripometer when you fill up from near empty and do the math. But dont worry the issue will resolve itself soon

I get ~18MPG all city driving with 3.31

3.73 should only help the MPG in city driving especially if you're going out of your way to drive conservatively

Like others said, manually calculate the MPG because the screen is not really accurate in my experience

The Mustang "track pac wheels" you have...by chance are they a different size than stock? Lots of folks on the F150 forum would mention sudden lower MPG; come to find out, they went with a taller tire, altering the speed and trip calculator that the vehicle has. If this is your case, most tuners can reprogram the tire size difference into the ECU/PCM to correct the change in tire size.

Mine has been down to 11 when I'm driving aggressively in the city. But right now I'm averaging 15 after 1,400 miles. That last 400 miles were from a mini road trip. I averaged 26 mpg using 91 octane and 25 mpg on the way back home using 93.

I'm told my city mpg should go up to around 19-20 after the engine is broken in. When does this happen again?

Get a fuel log app for your phone and track your fill ups. I use Fuel Log for Android and it's great, free too. This way you can monitor your mpgs.

I have a V6 and I have been getting between 13 and 16 MPG around town I have 425Miles on mine. Although it has been in NY so a lot of start and stops. I have yet to take it on a long hwy drive. Also according to the screen I have gone 100 Miles and used 7 gallons so that is around 14.5 mpg.. on a V6.. So maybe I have something wrong.

the mpg's will go up after you have more break in time with the motor

I have 24K on my 2011 V6, and I'm getting 25.6 on the highway, running at 80 MPH average speed (Orlando to Tampa), and in the crappy stop and go at 5:00 PM in Orlando, I still get no less than 22.2.

I use a web site called fuelly. You can find it at www.fuelly.com

I average 18MPG with my GT. You can see all Mustang stats here:http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/mustang

Is also worth noticing that if you getting a combined 25 MPG on a GT...that is terribly bad also, perhaps even worst.

Means you are not having any fun

At what speeds? If I can keep it under 80, I'm confident I could do better than 25...
