My GF thinks the 2011 V6 Mustang is slow =/
Compared to her 1.8L 4-cyl VW Jetta turbo-charged ride. I totally disagreed.
I told that she needs to remember:
1) We were running a 2.73 rear ratio, not 3.31
2) There was a fat salesman in the car with us
3) It was an auto
4) The V6 sounded absolutely like chocolate. Loved. No other V6 we test drove that day sounded good.
Problem is we can't find any 3.31 V6's in the area, it seems the dealers didn't order any with that option.

I test drove one about a month or so ago. It was an automatic. I thought it felt almost as strong as my 2008 V8. Not too far behind it. Pretty good for a V6 and the engine sounded great. I would think it would feel even stronger if I had turned off all of the traction control stuff. I didn't do that. I didn't know about it when I test drove it.

Thanks for the thread and good luck finding one with 3.31s. I can only go by everyone's review/opinion until my car arrives. So far the 2.73 seem to save gas and make the car slower...lol. I got 2.73s in my car....Boo hoo hoo!! It should look fast anyhow.
I guess I have to drive fast with the cobra and cruise with the V6. One more week!!

Line them up for a drag race. The VW might "feel" faster because of the lack of any sort of sound insulation, and quick gearing. It's like driving a go-kart by comparison. I assure you a drag race will settle any disputes.

It is slow.
A GT is faster.
A pro stock car is faster.
A top fuel car is faster.
Lots of cars are faster, lots of cars are slower.
If she doesn't like it then she should catch a ride in something else.

Tell her to come hitch a ride in my SHO, then she'll know what slow is! 220hp of raw FWD power, baby!

I have the V6 with the 3.31's. It ain't slow. You can MAKE it slow. Short-shifting it will make it feel like a pig in a deep mud hole. I've been playing around with different shifting strategies to balance performance and economy. The car is doing very well in both categories. "Local" mileage is better than expected at around 22 MPG and highway mileage is right at 27 MPG. My 3000 mile average (in 3 weeks!) is 24.26 MPG. Best is 29.65 MPG. Performance has never been a question as long as the revs are allowed to get to 4k or higher.

The 2.73 V6 felt like a 4-banger until she put her foot down and let the revs get over 3500. Then it screamed.
I still can't emphasize how AWESOME that V6 sounds. Holy crap.

If she is used to driving her turbo VW by herself, and the drive in the V6 Mustang was with you, her, and a fat salesman, than the extra passenger weight could definitely make the V6 Mustang "feel" slower, even if it actually wasn't.

I test drove two 2.73 V6 automatics (no 3.31 available around here at the time) and it also felt slow to me. It actually remained me of my 2000 Accord V6 VTEC. I then tried a 2010 Fusion Sport which also has a 3.31 axle ratio and that felt very good to me even though it has less HP than the Mustang V6. So that convinced me that if I order one with a 3.31 axle and manual it should make me very happy. I also want the Performance Package.
