My car is on hold

Something is fishy, I'm reading here that cars are moving but I get a letter saying they are not. WTF!!!

Mr Green,

See below e-mail from Ford product manager:

“I now have been advd that the 2011 Mustangs are not moving due to thorough inspections on the start up of the 2011 production to ensure the workers and processes are doing a quality job. The line is running really slow compared to what it will be next month.

There are so many vehs backed up I think even trying to change the destination to MI closer to manuf would delay

this veh moving even more as with FORD I cannot get confirmation on a destination change until veh rails and gets

to the ramp...”

At the present the vehicle is scheduled to be moved to Georgia and be there for 15th July.

Our company has offered $500 compensation so you can reschedule your flights.

Does this work for you?

Regards

Ian

Ick. Sorry to hear. Mine got held extra too, whisked offsite just before the train left for Atlanta. I wish you luck! And hope that this is just the worst case, if it's retail, it should be dealt with relatively quickly. Mine was only delayed an extra week and is now en route in a rail car. It only spent a few days offsite and caught the next train, so hopefully that's all it is.

You booked your flight prior to your car being shipped?

Who wrote that? A 12 year old from a cell phone?

First, the line is NOT running really slowly. Ford has PRODUCED 16,000+ Mustangs between May and June if the VIN sequence is any indication.

Second, they (Ford) have PUBLICLY said all retail orders are being shipped and anecdotal reports of users here support this.

Third, another poster here had his car built this month and has had it shipped already.

Is your car waiting to be "cleared?" Probably. Lots of them are. But I don't think the problem is as all encompassing as that email would lead you to believe.

Yes, I was originally told my car would be ready 28 May, I had to change my date because of some obligations that I could not get out of. My new date was 30 Jun, I bought the ticket. The car got pushed back two weeks. I bought one of those cheap tickets that can't be refunded, so I got hosed. At least they are giving me back half.

This guy is not a 12 year old. He has worked for AAFES Military Car Sales for many years and his reputation is impeccable. English is not his first language. He speaks it well but doesn't write it well, but it's good enough for me to understand. Cars sold to military personnel and DA Civilians overseas through Ford and others are specially priced and sold with very little profit in order to pass the savings on to us. They are not exactly retail orders. Because of that these cars don't always get the highest priorty. The dealer in Georgia where I'm picking up the car is not making a dime off this sale, except for preping the car. I could have had the car 28 May (see previous post above) but Ian was able to get me 500 bucks which I think was **** decent of him and AAFES. As for the delays, I guess since I canceled an earlier date I went to the bottom of the stack. That in inself might not be a bad thing since I read some cars needed a little going over. Besides I'm quite sure God has his reasons for making me wait.

"God" cares enough about trivial human affairs to delay a car?

That's not hubristic at all.

They can't tell you the exact day it'll be ready for pickup. All they give you is an ETA which is nothing more than an estimate.

I wouldn't buy any tickets until you know for a fact that the dealer has posession
