Seems like kind of a waste of time. It's just a car. It's not like a Tesla or limited run Ferrari... it's a Mustang... and there are craploads of them. And, in fact, I see some pretty **** ugly Mustangs out there!

If it's "just a car", then why not just buy a camry or something.

Only have had two people wave at me over the past few years. Wasn't expecting it either, so I didn't get to wave back.

A waste of time? What, are you too busy putting on make up? Or just too cool to be friendly?

I am glad to live in the South where most people are just generally friendly and wave first.

i would always do the head nod to mustang owners who I made eye contact with. Now that I have the truck ( not for long ) i have seen a roush mustang and gave him thumbs up out the window and he returned the gesture. seems like people around here just dont wanna pay attention to the other people on the road cuz they are afraid they will get a dirty look in return for waving.

If I meet a really nice looking Mustang I'll usually give the 2-3 fingers raised from the rim of the wheel type of wave, and the head nod. I find that I get a lot more attention/acknowledgment from people that are not in Mustangs, but just driving people movers, econoboxes, work trucks, etc. Lots of finger pointing and elbowing the person next to them to look.

Mustang is a very common car. A lot are driven by young kids that were bought one for their first car (both V6 and GT). They didn't buy it because they are Mustang fans like we are, so they couldn't care less about the "culture."

I wonder if TMS makes stickers? I'd put one on the bottom of both my quarter windows. It would be awesome to find another Mustang with the stickers on because you KNOW they're enthusiasts.

Wave? Most wont even look at you. You can forget about classic Mustang owners. Its like they despise you if you are driving a newer one. Now with the '11 any other Mustang owner im sure despises us no matter how ugly they think or say the car is as we are driving the fastest and best modern Mustang ever built.

This.
When I first arrived at my current duty station, I had searched online for the previous 3 months looking for a local mustang group to hang out with, I found one. I went to the first meeting I could, and it was 95% classic Mustang owners, who held monthly meetings, and treated the club like a business. As a younger kid with a newer Mustang, I didn't get the feeling like I was welcome. I got tired of feeling like that, so I eventually started my own local club, and am picking up more and more like-minded members who actually like to get out and drive (and mod) their cars. It sucks because these guys in the 'mature' crowd are well connected and are always finding out about shows in the area, and the younger crowd that actually likes to get out and do stuff can't seem to come across the same info.

I'll wave if I notice a Mustang. Sometimes my waves are acknowledged. I agree that motorcycle riders are better about waving, maybe because they generally have heightened situational awareness compared to automobile drivers.

I've tried waving at other Mustang drivers; I had one Mustang driver rev his engine in acknowledgment, but the vast majority don't bother looking over. I think the Mustang is so common that you don't have only enthusiasts driving them. Like was said above - you have Mustang drivers all across the range - from 16 year olds to older people. Honestly, that was my big dilemma when buying the car - do I need to have a car that is not quite as popular, just to be different and unique? I ultimately settled for the Mustang knowing that they are about as popular a car as you can get, and that I would be seeing them at every corner. But without a doubt, it has got to be the fastest car for under 30,000 (base GT). I even settled for probably the most common color in America. And I'm happy with it!

most mustangs on the road are v6 women driver or male drivers that are basically clueless. To them Mustangs are just cars. Thats what I see.. When I do happen to see a GT or up model, most are every day drivers too and never wave. I have had a few waves over the years but not what I would expect.. I rarely initiate and when I do I get a puzzled look wondering if they know me.. lol

I tried to wave to a guy in a GT500 the other day, but he wouldn't slow down long enough to see me.

I wave all the time. I get a wave back half the time. As stated, to most people its just a car not a passion for owning a Mustang. Ill even give thumbs up to a nice car when I see one.

I try to wave to all the pony cars if the timing works out . . . I get a response maybe 25-50% of the time.

I can usually spot the Mustang enthusiasts but sometimes too late . . . they usually wave back . . . the "secretaries" seem to think it's some kind of inappropriate behavior.

It's still a habit of mine to wave at any 370Zs I see. I'm sure it's confusing to them!

I'm used to the Corvette wave. So far as I've seen, there is no Mustang wave. When I first got my 5.0, I was waving at all the other 'stangs on the road. I never got a wave back, so I gave up.

I agree with you. I do the wave thing most of the time, but in the beginning I noticed around here (CT-East Coast) people were waving to me. I also ride a motorcycle and my fiance didnt believe me at first when people were waving to me in the Mustang, then she finally saw it. Along with people yelling nice car and stuff.

Sometimes I get a response, sometimes I dont, even on motorcycle, I swear I have waived to the same guy at least 15 times when riding into work, and he wouldnt wave back, so now I do it on purpose and wave at him everyday.

But Ill continue to wave, and maybe one day it will be treated as well as a "Jeep" or "motorcycle" thing. Its just a way to acknowledge and say "hey, nice choice of car."

Isn't that part of the point though? The Mustang survived and thrived thru multiple oil crunches and generations in non-stop production since its introduction.

No other pony car, muscle car, or sports car from America can make that claim. Very few cars from any Country can make that claim.

I try to wave to newer GTs and Bullitt's that I see. Problem is, you don't get much of a reply.
