The Kenny Brown CSR-69 concept is not a prototype for the 2010 Stang ?? it's nothing more than a wide body conversion kit package that Kenny Brown put together to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the 69 trans-am race edition Stangs of that era..

hips..hmmm...

my first reaction was WOW! hips would look amazing. make this car even more muscular.

then i been examining and really looking at the lines of the '05-07 stangs and you know what? the lines are perfect.

i was walking down the streets of NYC today and saw a new dodge charger and noticed that the charger has hips!

in my opinion, i dont think hips would do the mustang good.

also, im sort of nervous they might mess up the looks of this car. from what im reading is that they will MODERNIZE it more. what does that mean? it might look less muscular...more sleek maybe?

porsche screwed up royally going from 993 body to 996. the new 997 is back to the 993 look.

i hope ford mustang designers don't do the same mistake.

thanks all. happy new year!!

After reading over your post ? I tend to agree with you and in the event if Ford plans on adding similar hips on the 2010 Stang as in comparison with the hips that Daimler/Chrysler placed onto the Charger ?? then Yes I share your opinion it just wouldn't look right at all..However ? if Ford could update the hips from the 65 Stang ?? the lines would be nearly perfect..Check out this pic and see what you think ?

hi M05fastbackGT,

u might have something here. if other parts of the car are balance out with the SUBTLE hips, then maybe it could work. but i hope ford does NOT decrease the size of the nose, grill and headlights. that makes the car look mean....well to be honest...i sort of wish the next gen will look more sleek and less muscular...it'll make me feel better about keeping my '06 forever!!

i sort of feel like what u are suggesting is similar to what porsche did....porsche saw the tremendous response to flared out rear fenders so they incorporated that into the 997 bodystyle very smoothly...perhaps Ford designers will do the same...

but as you can see, our Mustangs already have flared fenders. I love it!
thats why i personally dont care for hips

Good point about the fenders aleady having flares to them but personally speaking ? there just isn't enough flare..On the other hand if Ford were to flare them out similar to the 67-70 ? it would look even better IMO

Do you also have a website ?? if so those of us who are interested would like the name of your site to gather more detail and info concerning the CSR-69 concept.. or boss69fastback.. personally speaking ? I'd also be interested in looking at some more pics other than what was posted on the Kenny Brown website

ok...so i closely looked at the 69-70 mustangs and they have hips...but NO flared fenders...

i guess i can see the mustang designers going after that 69-70 look with hips...but i wonder how it would look if they kept the flared fenders of the 05-07 mustang....

i personally do not like the kenny brown HIP mustang...

Tone it down a bit and it would look nice. It's just too out of place. Too heavy looking.

You obviously didn't look close enough..Now if these fenders don't look flared to you ? I highly recommend that you not walk but run to your nearest optometrist, just as another forum member had quoted from a different post....

hmmm....i see hips...but i dont see flared fenders.

maybe i have my terminology wrong...

but if you compare the flares above the tires of this '69 stang compared to the 05-07 stangs...there is hardly any on the '69.

therefore IN MY OPINION, hips work great on the '69..im trying to see in my mind if it would work well for the S197 stang with so much flare.....maybe they will tone it down....so far, i like the the body lines of the s197 a lot. ford did an amazing job.....

btw, lets keep it friendly my friend!

I don't know if it's your terminology that's wrong or if it's something else ? but trust me those are both hips and flared fenders..However I do agree that Ford would need to tone the flare down just a bit to look right on the S-197

The guy who is doing those rear end mods for the mustang is Nick Gavriles. I got a hold of him when my stang got hit, and I told him I was interested in getting the kit installed. 2 weeks of phone tag later the deal turned into vapor....

I hear he is in detroit, and works closely with ford. He was talking about having put together a hybrid stang with 2 160 HP electric motors powering the front wheels and the 4.6 liter v8 powering the rears. He said the car laid down a 3.9 second 0-60 time and ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile on street tires.

sounded good, but i have not seen or heard anything about him since. aperently they were offering the rear end kit for $6000.00 to dealers as an option. they would have cars shipped off to them from ford, and install the rear end kit, and then deliver to the dealer. It is all stamped steel as well, but they don't sell it as a kit for self installs...

I love the look of those stangs with the hips though!!!

In the future being soon in the future, in the next 10 years in the future, or "hey, we haven't ruled it out" in the future?

As much as i like hips, and I'm a man who enjoys a fine set of hips, I'm starting to think a 400 hp engine option and modern suspension are starting to rise in importance.

I think the lack of hips is one of the biggest aesthetic weaknesses of the current S197 so I'll be glad to see what the 2010 Mustang has to offer.

Personally, I would be tickled pink if the new Mustang was a '67-'68 influenced fastback, but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.
