Mustang handily outsells Camaro

Ratio of Camaro people pissed to Mustang people surprised = Infinity (you can't divide by zero!)
Just wait 'til we see June and July's numbers!

Just like the previous 'maro, it's all about looks, but definitely not about function. Mustang always was better at functionality, especially those Fox hatchbacks. When you get down to it, the 'maro's a toy.
I have to think a lot of this was clearing out 2010s. It sounds like a lot of GTs are tied up at the factory so I don't think we'll see the impact of the new engines until next month. Translation, I'd expect the Mustang to out sell the Camaro for the next 3 to 4 months.
good to see...
i think gm has another problem....corvette is down 13.1%

With the amount of time it took them to get the Camaro out, you think they could have had a convertable ready. That can't be helping sales any either. By the time it's ready, it will practically be time for a refresh on the design.
Should have just given them what they wanted and gone with T-tops! Seriously though, the Camaro really does need something to make it more distinctive from the Mustang. At least Dodge was smart enough to make the Challenger somewhat distinct from the Mustang by making it a muscle car rather than a pony car. Like it ir not, it has it's own character.
It just seems like the Camaro is always following on the heels of the Mustang rather than taking any big risks or trying to carve out it's own distinct niche by taking some chances or doing something different.

In 1983 GM opted NOT to even produce a 'vette because the economic situation was so dire (high unemployment and double digit interest rates).

GM didn't produce an '83 Corvette because it took so long to get the new design right that they just skipped '83 and made it the '84. They started production of the '84 in early '83 and produced the car for 17 months. It was easier to have a single extended model year than a short run followed by a normal run.

They actually made a bunch which were used for testing. All of them were scrapped except for the one you mentioned. It was hidden to preserve it and now resides in the Corvette Museum.
