Mustang Club & National Show

While my ’13 is unique with the Silverhorse quarter windows, her rocker stripe and the (in process) California Special pedestal spoiler, the car, while exceptionally good looking and different, is certainly not a classic or a show car.

Anyone here in the Mustang Club of America? I see they are doing a National show in St. Augustine FL and from what I have read there will be numerous S197 series cars joining the 400 or so cars already registered for the event.

I have participated in car shows with my 1938 Studebaker President and my 1963 Studebaker Avanti(with factory Paxton supercharger) however I just don’t see the merits in “showing” a car like mine at such an event.

Please tell me what I am missing here.

Thanks,

RWSRWS

At a mustang show, you can show up with a bone stock V6 base model and be just as welcome as the next guy pulling in behind you with a Boss 429, GT500, Boss 302, Saleen, etc... That is the beauty of these shows. Just show what you got. No need to worry about what you don't have.

Depending on what class you enter, the show judging is more about how good you are at detailing then how modded your car is anyway.

Understood, yes.

That's been my experience with past car shows, and cars that are 50-78 years old.

This one is a standard production car and only 3 model years old.

And I'm going to be in a car show?

The Mustang Club held one of the 50th Anniversary stops in my home town. I paid to show my 14 then. The Mustang community in general is just awesome to be around. Do not let the age or the high production numbers discourage you. Show your car. Have fun. Talk Mustangs with other enthusiasts and Polish up your Stang!

This ^^^^.

Never been to an MCA event, but I have entered several all Ford and/or all Mustang events, and the competition is usually within the year range...for instance 2010-2014. Some events have a limit on the number of major mods so that you can still compete in a stock class with different wheels, exhaust, etc. There sometimes are separate classes for S197 GT500's, 12/13 Bosses, and specialty Mustangs like Roush and Saleen.

Don't get hung up on if your car is worthy to be shown or bringing home hardware. Like 14Glassback said, have some fun.

THANKS GUYS !

I have a couple of BOXES of trophies & plaques.

Trust me, they are no big deal.

I do have a 3rd place trophy from the Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet in South Bend, Indiana, where I DROVE my 1938 Studebaker from west Kentucky to the week long meet. THAT is the only trophy that really means anything to me, as that was my Fathers car and I tracked it down years after his death and still own it to this day.

Based on your comments, I am actually considering doing this show. in 2 weeks.

Go for it! You'll have a great time.

I've got 2 classics and felt similarly when I bought my Mustang.

But I joined the local Mustang club and enjoyed going to shows with the club.

Whenever I'm at a Ford or Mustang show I am welcomed since I have a Mustang. It doesn't matter what model year it is!

O.K.

I'm IN for the (not judged) display part of the show.

If I'm lucky my new FACTORY California Special deck lid spoiler will be back from the paint shop in time for me to install.

PRESS ON REGARDLESS !
