Motorweek BOSS 302 test review

Motorweek gushes over the new BOSS, had nothing but raves for the car. And for once not a single mention of the solid rear axle.

Their performance numbers:

0-60 4.4 seconds

60-0 111 feet

12.4 @ 124 1/4 mile, absolutely screaming on the top end!

Pretty good review and better than Motorweek's usual 1/4 mile reports.

It is? Well then you'll have to explain what the joke is.

I can't find any video of this 12.4 124 run. Is there a video or just a written article?

I just don't understand how they got 124mph trap speed. With perfect conditions, I could see 114-117 trap speeds. Maybe ford sent them a "special" Boss with an extra 100hp. lol

Or Maybe Hennessey sent them a Boss with an extra 200 or so horsepower.

the Hennessey lacks a key.

12.4 is mind bending.

I saw it too. Total bs. That's an impossible MPH and the 12.4 couldn't be done without Dr's if the car made that much power. 124 MPH is a 10.90's quarter mile.

I will never believe anything they say on there again. I am going to write them a lengthy letter on this BS.

IF, big IF, the Boss achieved 124 mph through the traps in the quarter, than the recent MotorTrend Laguna Seca track comparison test with the Boss 302 would have done much better than it did.

The Boss 302 was unfortunately almost 7-seconds slower around Laguna Seca than the 505hp Corvette Z06 in MotorTrends recent track test comparo. As we all know, the Z06 weighs about 400lbs less than the Mustang with at least 60hp+ and 90+ torque, and 124mph is what the Z06 is capable of in the quarter.

I suspect that their equipment was off, or it was really 114mph instead of 124mph. Additionally, for a 124mph quarter mile trap speed, the 0-60mph time would have needed to be a bit better than 4.4-seconds.

motortrend got the boss 0-60 in 4-flat. they seem to be confident that 3.9 would be easily attained

"Testing the Boss is an absolute delight, particularly the launch control system, which feeds in power. With it on, the car launches with about 2700 rpm. Right around 3500 rpm, the torque kicks in and pulls all the way to redline with no flat spots. We nearly broke 4.0 seconds to 60 (3.97 actually). Given a grippier launch surface, there is a 3.9 in this car.

I agree with the 114mph vs the 124mph... to them it may be a simple type-o but to us its a world changer ...lol

I agree on the trap being suspect, but also find their braking to be worse than expected.

You'd think they would get around the 106 like others have.
