MMD Hood strut questions/issues.

I was just curious if anyone out there has a set of MMD hood struts on their 2010+ Mustang. I have a 2012 that I put a set on from American Muscle and I am not very happy with the fitment. Mostly the fact that it seems to have raised the hood when shut about an 1/8" from what it was to start. Also the lower brackets seemed to twist in once the hood was raised. I only had them on the car for about an hour then stripped everything off do to these things I know it seems minor, but it would bother me.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with this set or perhaps the MRT's. The design with the bracket sandwiched between the hood bolts and hood seems to lead to this gap. It doesn't sound like I can return them since they have already been on the car, even though it never left the garage. Thanks for any input.

If you did not remove or relocate the sound tube assembly, it can/will raise the drivers side of the hood as you describe since when closed, the new shock touches the tube assembly.

A lot of the reviews on AM have the same issue about fitment. Make sure you double check them with all products. Contact AM, they are a great company and will probably help you out.

From what I see, the 2 best hood struts are:

No drill - MRT (tucked back and away like MMDs)

Drill - Redline (come further down the fender)

Thanks for the feedback. I did relocate the sound canister to under the fender per the instructions. Going to try to call AM on Monday, hopefully can come to some kind of resolution. Otherwise they will be scrap.

Did you ever get this fixed? I had the MDD struts on mine and when I was installing them onto a new hood, one of the retaining clips broke. Anyone have any idea where I can get these? I have tried the auto parts store as well as Home Depot, and no luck.

The new Redline no-drill struts are awesome. Easy to install and very low profile. They look factory.

I got them to & thought all was great until I noticed that passenger side was rubbing against shock tower.
Redline is sending me a new hood bracket that will fix my issue & should with all 2013's?
I bought mine thru JLT and they are color matched to the car "GHIG" JLT is repainting my one strut.

****** I never did get these to it correctly. They are in a box in my garage. You are more than welcome to them if you want to cover the shipping. They are junk to me. Thinking about trying the redlines, little hesitant though.

Redlines are by far the easiest to put on. Barry's strut tower rubbing is the 1st I've herd of an problems.

May not heard of it before but tons are being sent back for the 2013's.
I believe it's only the painted ones to match cars don't think it's unpainted ones?
The strut rubs against the shock tower & rubs paint off strut & on the car finish.
Not a big deal as Redline has a fix and everyone is being taking care of. Small inconvenience.

I've got the redline struts on mine, too. High quality and a 5 minute install. But, I've e-mailed them since I noticed the passenger side piston rubbing the strut tower. The tower is covered with a piece of velcro (soft side) to prevent any more damage to the paint... so far, so good. Hopefully, there is a fix as indicated earlier in this thread.
