Nice! Definitely let us know if it actually solves your problems. I have the Barton bracket and short shifter on order to try and solve this junk OEM transmission locking me out of 3rd all the time.

I have had mine installed since last october and I haven't had any lock out issues however I have not had it on the track yet. MGW is the only one that does a full replacement of all stock components included in the shift box plus sound deafening material and a heat shield for an extra 10 bucks.

Here is a basic how to i wrote up for mustang evolution

at the track had about 3-4 runs and it would not go into 2nd gear at all at the strip. I'm really not happy with the garbage MT82

I'm blaming it on clutch. Stock clutch is really weak. Pressure plate is hanging up at high rpms only I'm guessing. I am starting to think that the MT82 is a "good enough" trans once the shifter and clutch issues have been taken care of. Hope you get it worked out man.

Some issues with ME? Yes I did lol. Only by request though from members of the forum that were interested in The Mgw shifter and I should have tried to collect royalties because I swear after that I couldn't get my comformed shift **** that has been going through r&d for the last year because they have been trying to pump out orders of their short throw

Yeah just one of the M.E. permabanned here. Lol. Been there. Done that.

Great folks at MGW but yeah it's a small operation so they take some time. But the patience should pay off. They do what they do well.

yes goes into all the gears nice, with my stock shifter every time i tried going from 1st into 2nd with a load, it would grind 2nd, with the MGW it didn't grind into 2nd under load, so i thought the problem was solved, but apparently not.

it seems to me, first couple runs at the it went into 2nd just fine, but after that it would not go into 2nd at all and i would have to put it into 3rd. so it does seem like the heat actually makes things a lot worse.

first i was thinking maybe it needs different fluid, but i don't think heat would effect it that much, from going into 2nd to not at all after a couple runs.

i read somewhere boss clutch and pressure plate is a much better set up ??? I'm guessing the pressure plate heats up a lot after first couple runs and then it gets weak, with a boss pressure plate it might improve things ?

I am running a stage 2 spec clutch in mine and I am not getting those problems. I agree it is probably in the clutch set up

Well that's disappointing. Got my Barton short shifter and bracket in from American Muscle, so I'm really hoping it will help with my 3rd gear lock out. Did you get an upgraded bracket with the MGW shifter or was it just the shifter itself?

full kit yes, today tried to shift 1-2 at redline and all was fine, but after 2-3 of those clutch sinks, I'm guessing because pressure plate heats up and gets weaker.

Interesting. It almost seems like there's 3 problems with these transmissions. The cold weather shifting which the MTL gear oil change seems to help. The pressure plate problem like you have. And in my case, I think it's related to the gates and the stock bracket/bushing. At least that's what I'm hoping is the case with my car. I don't get any gear grinding. In my case it just feels like the gate isn't there at all and it feels "mushy" trying to push into 3rd gear. Which would make sense if the stock rubber bracket was twisting.

I know you said that initially you didn't have any grinding but when you were locked out at the track, did you feel any grinding at all?

basically it would shift fine, then as it heated up it would grind and then it would not go into 2nd at all, no mater how hard the clutch was pressed or how hard i tried to shift it into 2nd it would just grind and not go in.

MGW did indeed improve the shifts tho and with a stock shifter i was grinding 2nd ALL the time during a load, now it shifts into 2nd fine without a grind under load, but only after it gets heated up it would start grinding and eventually not go in depending on how heated up it gets.

Install the JHR stainless braided clutch line. That along with my MGW solved 95% of my trans issues.
