Metal Shavings in OIL!!!! 14' GT TP 6Spd

So i have been changing my own oil from the first 10k oil change. At my first change i noticed some "Shavings" of what seem to be aluminum. I hauled my car to Wayne Akers Service and showed them and said well do a change and see if we find anything. Of course they didn't, they pour it into a bucket!!! Same at 20k, 30k and i just did my 40k change 2 days ago and same crap! I spoke to Ford Customer service and they told me to take it in so it can be inspected. The engine seems to run just as hard as it did when new and doesn't make any noise. Has anyone else inspected their oil after changing it or have had similar problems? Thanks

Have you had an oil analysis performed?

I have the oil in containers provided from Blackstone. still haven't shipped them for analysis due to them telling me "if you can see it, the spectrometer wont pick it up bc its too big".

The problem is that Ford Service can't seem to find the same shaving i find every time i do my oil change due to their lack of competency. Even with the analysis results showing its eating itself up, they pretty much are not going to do anything.

What do you see when you cut your filter open and inspect the element?

I have the same questions. Those chunks are huge, how come they didn't get trapped in the filter? Too heavy to get picked up by the pump intake nozzle?

I saved all my filters after seeing the debris in the oil. I also do NOT know how the filter is not catching everything. Will post pictures when I get home and cut it open.

Watch how you cut it open or you'll end up with shavings on the inside from the filter housing. Most just pry or grind the rolled lip at top of the filter and then pull the media out.

Use a proper filter opener. It looks like a can opener wheel attached to a "C" clamp. It leaves no chips. Wash the element in a pan of solvent and strain the liquid through a fine paint strainer to catch the evidence.

Instead of looking at the chunks and shavings in the oil, drain your oil into a pan and send it through a fine paint strainer to catch whatever isn't in the filter. Only crap small enough to stay in suspended in the oil and pass through the pumps pick-up screen will get caught in the filter. The rest fall to the bottom of the pan. Combine the pan renderings with the filter renderings. Run a magent through it to check for ferrous materials. The left overs can be identified visually by color, chemically or PMI if you want to pay for that.

Send your oil samples to the lab...No, they can't analyze what the chunks are but if something is coming apart, chances are the oils metal count is going through the moon and that will be another clue.

Don't rely on a dealership or a dealership mechanic to help you with this type of detective work. It's really outside of their wheelhouse. The car is outside of the warranty period so there is nothing they're going to do for you anyway, right?

So I cut it open and there is metal in the filter but not as much as I would have thought. It was very hard to get any images of how small the shimmer was is any light. I have attached an image of what I saw.

And power train warranty I'd good til 60k. Plans are to SC the car but not if I'm going to have to replace the motor right after doing so....

It's probably from the block casting. I would drive the car and not worry about it. My engine could be doing the same thing and I wouldn't know because the Dealer
changes my oil.

I would think if it was anything major in the valve train it would have caused a loss in power by now. For piece of mind you could scope your cylinders and do a compression check before going FI. But then again the dealer should do that.

Yea I am not going to SC the car, once out of warranty its a goner. It sucks cause i really love the car but FORD and their service and way below par. They have rubbed me the wrong way and have not shown me anything they can do nor are willing to do. Anyone with half a brain knows that if you can see metal it has to be coming from somewhere, possibly eating itself up??? For some reason i have to rely on incompetent ford service techs to figure it out, which they cant, cause they don't give a crap and don't have a half a brain. Might have to give ford a break and purchase another brand. Thanks for all your help and comments guys. Its appreciated.
