Is it me or is the 5.0 pretty rare?
Ford just isn't building many of them, or if they are they aren't distributing them properly. I check all the local dealers websites to check their mustang inventory and in an area that has a total population of over a million there might be 3, 5.0's in total. The dealers here in Canada just don't have any allocation for them.
Even if you wanted to order one you couldn't.
I've been scratching my head over this for over a year. I just don't get it?

Not too many 5.0s on the road, and the dealers dont get much allocation....Had a real hard time ordering mine and getting it built last year...
Looks like american dealers get the allocation even though most americans have no money???
I have thought the same thing. I have looked for 5.0's but dont seem to see many. Have had my car just over 1 yr and put it in 2 car shows right after I got it. I was the only one in both. One of the two shows is coming up this Friday wonder if any others will show up. I was originally going to buy a Raptor but changed my mind at the last min. I have seen more Raptors by far then 5.0's. Even just saw my second screw cab about 1/2 hour ago.
In live in Canada as well, Edmonton specifically, true sales are quite a bit lower but the lack of 5.0's availible is ridiculous. Looking around some of the dealers only have 1 - 2 5.0's ('11 and '12) and some have none, but do have several GT500's.

Since I bought mine last October, I have seen three other 5.0 cars, not on a dealer's lot. Two of those were in the past three weeks, and one was either a Boss or a CA Special- passed by opposite directions, and just saw stripes/no '5.0' on the fender. I don't even see many '10+ Mustangs, although '05-'09 are as common as fleas on a dog.
Someone mentioned Raptors... I have only ever seen 'one' Raptor. Neither of the local dealers ever seems to have one.
Of course, here in CA Wine Country, domestic cars run way behind BMW/MB/Lexus, etc.

It's not so much that the dealers don't have them on the lots, it's that they have no allocation. Even if they have people lined up to order the car, without allocation you can't take the orders.
Yet there are plenty of GT500's sitting on the lots.
One dealer near me has 6 GT500's.
in June I spent 3 weeks in the USA again, vacationing. I was in TN, NC and SC. I did see a couple of new mustang, but was also surprised that almost all of them were V6's. is this probably for insurance cost reasons? I also visited some ford dealers and they did not have many mustangs (especially 5.0's) on the lot.
here, most of the people that are getting a mustang are getting a GT I believe. but this is of course a totally different situation, as the mustang is an exotic car here. people that are willing to have such a car imported and pay all the shipping and customs and stuff usually wanna go all the way and get the V8.

I see loads of RT's and SRT's Chally around here. Always on the look out for the next kill ! Impressive numbers of Kmaro's as well. In general, lots of sports cars in my part of the hood. I live in what we call the greater Montreal area, which has a population of about 4.5 million people and it is a jungle out here, only the strongest survive !!! I mean cars........
I concur - My son lives in NC and he sees 5.0s all the time. I have had mine for a year now, and only have seen one other in my travels around N.E. There are few to none at dealerships too.
I live in a town with about 350k in the city limits and well over half a million with unincorporated surrounding areas. I've seen 2 in the last 6 months. I see SS camaros everyday. I see more porsche panamera's than I do 5.0. It's a great car, but the masses haven't embraced it the way many of us have.
