what m4reapr said...downshifting is really unnecessary. Just use the brakes and only downshift to the gear that you're are going to be directly using. Also, try to avoid downshifting into 1st all together. If your car is moving at all, then 2nd gear should be all you ever have to downshift into. 1st should be reserved for starting from a complete stop.

Thank God the '11 doesn't have the clunk/drive-train lash of the '03 Cobra. Talk about hard to shift smoothly. It does have the grunt of the terminator though!

To learn to do matched rpm downshifts the easiest way to learn is cruise along at constant speed and throttle in a gear. Push in clutch without releasing the throttle and put it slowly in lower gear (ie put a little pressure against it and when the rpm rises enough to match it will fall in gear) let out clutch. Once you get the hang of doing that smoothly then try blipping the throttle to get the same amount of rpm rise you were getting so you dont have to wait for the rpm to rise.
