Light setting for after turning off car, or when door is opened

For a 2012

I spent some time searching, reading the manual and going through the settings on the car and can not find anything on this.

I'd like to not have the parking lights come on every time we open a door.
I'd like to not have any lights on immediately after I shut the car off.

Anyone point me in the right direction? I'm sure it's something obvious, it was pretty easy to get into settings like this on our truck and previous srt charger.

I'm not sure if you can shut them off completely but if you go through setup after the Mycolor options there's an option to shorten/lengthen the amount of time they stay on.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm thinking of the auto headlights. Sorry not enough coffee this morning.

Keep reading the manual, it's in there...don;t ask me how I did it though. it;s one of those things you only set once.

Reviewing the on line manuals, it looks like there is not much in options for your desires. You might check out the wiring schematics and see if there is a relay you could remove to stop the lights from their normal actions.

What you want done is something that, if it can me modified, has to be done via the SJB (smart jumction box). You have to talk to your dealer and ask them to talk to one of the tech's there.

If the settings in the message center aren't what you're looking for, the dealer might be able to modify it with the IDS system. You'd have to ask them to look into it for you.

it should be under the locks and security section: "deactivating/activating perimeter lamps illuminated entry"

It is definitely in the 2010 manual. I'm sure the procedure is the same. it involves turning the ignition on and off and locking and unlocking the doors a certain number of times.

I see the procedure is the same for deactivating the autounlock for newer models, so this may end up being a dealer-set function.

ah ha!! I pulled up a 2010 PDF manual and found something I can try.

Perimeter lamps illuminated entry
With the Integrated Keyhead Transmitter system, the following items will illuminate when the Lock control on the transmitter is pressed:
• Headlamps
• Park lamps
• Tail lamps
The lamps will automatically turn off:
• if the ignition switch is turned to the on position,
• the Integrated Keyhead Transmitter lock control is pressed, or
• after 25 seconds of illumination.

Note: On some vehicles, the perimeter lamps illuminated entry feature will not activate in daylight conditions.
Deactivating/activating perimeter lamps illuminated entry
You may enable/disable this feature by having your vehicle serviced by your authorized dealer.
You may also perform the following power door lock sequence to enable/disable the perimeter lamps feature. Note: Before starting, ensure the ignition is in the off position and all vehicle doors are closed. You must complete Steps 1–5 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, wait a minimum of 30 seconds before beginning again.
1. Place the key in the ignition and turn the ignition to the on position.
2. Press the power door control on the door panel three times.
3. Turn the ignition from the on position to the off position.
4. Press the power door control on the door panel three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to the on position. The horn will chirp one time to confirm programming mode has been entered and is active.
6. Press the power door control twice within five seconds. Note: The horn will chirp once to indicate the perimeter lighting feature has been deactivated. The horn will chirp once and honk once (one short and one long) to indicate the perimeter lighting feature has been activated.
7. Turn the ignition to the off position to exit the procedure.

Note: The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.
Illuminated exit
• When all vehicle doors are closed and the key is removed from the ignition, the interior dome lamp will illuminate.
The lights will turn off if all the doors remain closed and
• 25 seconds elapse, or
• the key is inserted in the ignition.
None of this was in my 2012 manual

Well I followed the above steps from the 2010 guide and it would confirm by honking the horn as described but lights still come on as soon as a door opens or key is pulled from ignition

yeah, it looks like the procedure changes for the 2011 model year. that exact procedure now deactivates the autounlock feature on the 2011+. this will have to be done by the dealer, they will program the module. you can have them do it next time you take the car in.

Hello AustinSVT,

05fordgt is correct. The settings are built into the module so you will have to speak to your dealer and see if they can change them for you.
