For storage and light maintenance, 4 post. For regular maintenance and mods, including brakes/suspension, 2 post. I have a 4 post.

I have been pondering this for a while. it seem for s home owner the best is a 4 post. That way you will not loose any storage room. You can park one above and still have a 2 car garage. with the Jack on a 4 post you can do just about anything you would want to do. I would love a 2 post but would not want to loose the space.

A pic is worth a thousand words, so I'm adding a pic of mine. A lot of these will come with a jacking tray, allowing to jack from the middle of the car with a bottle jack instead of only jacking from the ramps/platforms.

You're O.C.D. and there's no cover on the Power Wheels?

Also I'm totally jealous.

Lol... I've thought about it! But even in the dead of winter, my boys play with that in the garage, or will sit in it and play its battery operated radio while I'm out working on garage projects.

I've thought about this a lot and decided on a Bend Pak 4 post. I've noticed Jay Leno uses them and they have adapters to lift the wheels while on the lift.
If it's good enough Leno has several, they must be pretty decent.

Bendpak and back yard buddy seem to be the two brands with the biggest followings.

I have been considering one of these for a while. when I move into my new place next summer, the HD9 xw is probably my first piece of furniture

O.C.D: What brand is yours....did you do a lot of research when you bought it? Why that brand over the others!?

Mine's an Auto Lift, which is also sold under different brand names. I got this after seeing a friends, liking the construction, then based on specs, cost, and local pickup availability. I researched and couldn't find a single failure of the lift. If I planned on working on the car regularly or constantly having it go up and down with heavier vehicles, I may have researched more, but my mods are mostly done and the car sits in the air for most of the winter. It suit my needs, so that's what I got. It's an 8000 lift that will only see less than 4000 lbs on it. I liked that I could build it myself, which means I know how to maintain it and watch for any wear. They say it doesn't need bolted down, but I anchored mine for peace of mind and added structural integrity.

I'm 100% happy with it. It's solid and the ladder safety stops engage as they should. When bringing it to a rest, I lower it onto one of the safety catches. No complaints at all, but I have no reason to bash any other lift. My kids love it (4 and 8)... "Daddy, it's like a bunk-bed for cars!". Hope that helps.

Nocturnal... I see you have Ohio listed as one of your locations. If you're ever near Akron/Canton and want to take a look, let me know.
