Last oil change was almost 2 years ago

long story short last time i changed oil was almost 2 years ago. I normally change my oil every 6k or 6 month, but since i moved last year ive been busy and forgot all about it. I think i have about 7-8k miles in the 2 years. 90% mileage was put on 1st year. 2nd year car was barely driven.

As of right now i dont experience any noise or symptoms. Should i worry? did i cause any wear or damage? or have i dodge a bullet since i dont experience any noise or symptom? I use pennzoil full synthetic every time if it makes a difference.

Just resetting the oil change reminder every year? I change the oil in my `1991` F150 every 2 years because I drive it less than 1,000 miles per year. I think your Mustang will be ok but I wouldn't make a habit of it

I recalculated the mileage in the two years its slightly below 10k. But i surpass the manual interval by 1 year. Really worried about the damage.

You'll be ok as long as the oil level is good. I've read about several people going 10,000 miles on every oil change. I think they are dumb asses but that's what they do. Take it on a nice drive on the interstate and let the motor get hot, then drain the old oil with it still hot. Be careful and not burn your fingers and hands. Let it drain for at least 30 minutes to get all the old oil and crap out. Change the filter and add new oil. You will be OK. .

It is too late to worry about it now. As long as you didn't run it too low on oil you should be fine. The interval is a bit long, but not unheard of for people using synthetic oil. Just change the oil and filter and keep better track of it in the future.

I doubt there's anything to worry about. Back in the day one of my co-workers bought a brand new Honda Accord. She then drove it for 5 years and 30,000 some miles before ever changing its oil. She never had a problem with the car and yes she wasn't the brightest light bulb in the pack!

Changed the oil today noticed oil filter was leaking abit, oil level was little below(a quart less estimate) and oil started to have some sludge! Now im worried, what are the possible damages?

I hope you are using good oil and filters. I would run it around 500 miles and go for another nice cruse on the interstate and 'hot' change the oil and filter again. See what comes out then. I'm no expert but this is what I would do if I was having the problem your having

My oil light never came on, its weird how im below oil minimum and yet engine is not showing low oil pressure. And i not sure when i was down below minimum, if i had to guess maybe after the first year the oil filter seal broke down or shrinked. Make me wonder what kind of engine wear ive done.....

These cars hold 8 quarts of oil and being down a quart will not show low oil pressure. There is still plenty of oil to pressurize the system, there is just a bit less sitting in the pan. Yes, you may have experienced a little more wear than you normally would due to loss of lubricity resulting from contaminates building up, but there is really no way to know short of complete disassembly and even then it wouldn't be measurable. You have already changed the oil, so just drive it and another change in 500-1000 miles to rid the engine of any contaminates that did not come out with the old oil would be a good idea.

Thanks, this is my first car i bought 7 years ago and i have been learning to do all my maintenance ever since. Moved to NY last year and life gotten very busy to a point i forgot all about it. I barely put on 4-500miles on the 2nd year and the cold temperature and lack of space to do an oil change is another reason i keep putting it off. Normally im good with oil change do one at 6month regardless mileage. That sucks still cant believe this happened, i was always on top of my oil change last 40k miles. Now with this situation i doubting i can pass 100k on the engine without hiccups.

1 quart was rough guess probably more than 1 close to 2 to be little below minimum level.

I think this is a major misconception with how good today's oils are. 10k miles is no problem for Syn oil today as long as you use a good filter. I have 3 pieces of evidence to support my claim:

1) Blackstone Labs oil analysis at little over 7000 miles including 3 track days from the Coyote. I posted it here before. Black Store recommended pushing the oil further because wear metals were low, additive package and viscosity were still well within spec. Additive package literally still had half of it's life in it.
2) In my current BMW M2 the drain interval as recommended by BMW is 2 years or 25,000 km which is over 16,000 miles. I have about 8000 miles including 1 day each at Nordschleife, Hockenheimring and Spa Francorchamps on it now. I'm not touching the oil in the car. I've learned.
3) Amzoil recommended drain interval. This is a company which makes more money the more frequently you change your oil, and even thy tell you not to.

25,000 miles
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil is guaranteed for 25,000 miles/700 hours of operation/one year, whichever comes first, in normal service (15,000 miles in severe service).

Today's full synthetic oils are WAY better than they were 15 years ago. If you change it every 3000 miles you're letting perfectly good oil go to waste.

Yep. Blackstone has told me the same thing repeatedly with my oil analysis.

Original poster, do another oil change after about 500 miles and you'll probably be fine. Blackstone Oil Labs is your best source, not looking at oil color or making other assumptions.

I call myself a dumb *** several times a day. I use the word when I do something that is not 'normal' when compared to what 'most' people do. I'm not saying the word as a bad word in any way .

What brand of motor oil and oil filter are you using Winkawak ?

That's good. Sometimes words typed come out as bad when they aren't. If that makes any sense

From what I've read, Pennzoil Synthetic is one of the best motor oils you can use according to some oil test. I don't see why you had some sludge come out of the drain hole. Just run it for 500 miles and change the oil and filter again and see what comes out.
