Lamin-X Clear Bra?
Lamin-X Clear Bra?
Anybody have any experiances with it? Ive never even heard of it before buy my buddy says its waht he uses at his shop. Around here its like each clear bra installer uses a different film (3M, venturesheild, lamin-x) and prices are all over the board. If lamin-x is good stuff then Ill just let my friend do it since there is a bit more of a trust factor there over going to a place Ive never done business with.
I'm not sure on the prices, but I've also heard of it being used behind the rear wheels as well. The plasti-dip sounds like a cool idea, but I thought I read somewhere that the clear is actually still kinda hazy...although I can't seem to find where I read it.
I don't have Lamin-X on my car, but I have a clear bra on my white 2012 GT/CS and on my wife's black Cadillac SRX. Her car has about 14k miles on it and mine has 1100. Neither car has a chip in it. It is well worth the money.
Both my cars have 3M on them. The mustang was 525 and the Cadillac was 650. This included the hood, fenders, mirrors and front bumper. The mustang also has about a 6 inch wide piece on the roof above the windshield. The Cadillac has inside the door handles and the door edges so that's where the difference in price comes from.

Do you have pics of it on the stang you could share?
Thanks!

At this time, we only manufacture the thicker films for headlight, fog light, and taillight restyling/protection. The paint protection film we offer is sourced from the manufacturers and is not our own. We carry 3M’s VentureShield and Sharpline’s DuraShield. Hope this is helpful.
I paid $675 for full front end and 24" on hood and fenders. I have the thinner on hood and fenders and thicker material on front end.
this is my 5th mustang with a clear bra and I have never had any damage in an area the bra was in after taking stones / rocks / road debris / love bugs....

But I didn't think of the piece on the front of the roof. And sure enough... driving under an overpass in the late winter and a piece of ice fell and hit there. Left a tiny little ding that I'm pretty sure the 3M would have protected.

( ^ no - that's not a bubble. That's from the reflection.)

Thanks for taking the pics! Gave me a good idea on what to expect.

What happens when you need to remove/replace it? Has anyone done that - is there a paint fade risk? What if you have stripes? Surely they would not survive removal/replacement of this film?
Just asking - I'm interested but not convinced.

My stripe guy is going to put this on my wifes 2013 GT as soon as he gets the correct program for his automated cutter. I have a Jag, and my dealership swears by this stuff (the 3M brand), and I have not seen any paint fade differences. The material is supposed to be UV neutral.
