Ordered the car on April 26th, since i had time to spare, i took a close look at the DORA and it's endless codes and stuff and came upon this line :

assembly plant flat rock VIN # V8P8xx xx

Would by any chance be my real VIN #, or else what is it exactly ?
And just above that line :

order rcpt date 04/26/10 schd / /
What should i read there.
Should i get all excited or just call customer service to inquire.

 

Don't get too excited, it's not a Mustang VIN. A Mustang would start with 1ZV, which is the code for a Ford vehicle manufactured at AAI, and Mustangs are only Fords built at AAI. It's probably an internal Ford code, but what it is exactly I can't tell you.

That says Order Receipt Date: which was April 26, 2010. The one to the right is the scheduled build date, but it's currently blank with only two slashes demarkating a blank month, day, and year. Keep checking though, it'll get scheduled eventually and may have a VIN by now!

 

Will make a phone call on Monday, see that they're open up until 6 pm which is great. Maybe i'll get my VIN. who knows.

 

EDIT: I was wrong. You should call customer service to see if they can tell you your vin.

 

Ordered my Mustang 1 April (I KNOW!) Called my dealer earlier in the week and he couldn't find the DORA so I called Ford CS today and they had the build date (24 May) and my VIN! Thanks CS! I'm beyond excited and want to see my car so bad!

 

My, aren't we getting awfully impatient . Just kidding but you won't have the VIN yet. We did get VINs for 8 this past week so hopefully in the next few weeks we'll get yours. I'll let you know so you don't drive yourself nuts.

Paul,Paul,Paul, knew you were lurking around, but was just wondering what all those numbers and letters on my DORA meant. I know you got me covered, but obviously you've got other things to do, like selling cars, so i didn't want to bother you, but too late. Never mind my e-mail i just sent you. I had the chance to get a ride in one. Since that day i instantly became a 5 year old kid at Christmas. Oh well. Thanks for keeping in touch Paul.
