I just bought a set of 9/9.5 x 19 Ford Performance package rims for my 2013 GT. I have the 2015 18in factory rims on it now (factory for a 2015 Mustang).

My *plan* was to use some new Conti extreme contact tires I have in the garage (left over from the Audi) which are very low profile 235/35/19. I think those rims were 19x8.5. Or maybe 8.0. So I'm not sure but my guess is they're too narrow for the new rims? They were like $800 tires just sitting out there- I'd hoped to use them for something. It was my *excuse* for buying these new rims too!

My other idea was to use them in pairs as FRONTS. Then buy like 275's for the rear?

This world of matching tires to rims is all new to me- advise is most welcome!

 

Those 235/35 are way too small for your car. They'd fit the 19x9 just fine, but will be way too short for the car. Sell them and put that towards new tires. A set of Cooper RS-3s would be about $830 installed and be the correct size.

Factory sizes were 255/40 and 275/40. You can do a 275/35 on the front and 285/35 on the rear if you want to go a little bigger, or just keep the factory sizes.

Those 235/35's on 9" wheels will be stretched to meet the beads of the 9" wheels, and they're definitely too short.

The factory 255/50/19 tires are 27" tall
Those 235/35/19 tires are 25.4" tall, so the tires alone will lower the car by about .8"
