Thumbs up July Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords

They track tested a California. It went 12.6 stock and 12.3 with drag radials. Lifted the driver side tire just a little bit.

five oh, for some reason you can't add 3.73's to the GT/CS (think I heard that here)

the order guide indicates you can get 3.55 or 3.73 with the 402 pkg, neither are grayed out like the brembo pkg and there are $$ signs meaning "optional"

but more info would be helpful, like mph
at least we know the 12.6 was done on the all-season tires

It went 112 stock and 110 with drag radials. The drag radials brought the mph down because they were shorter and the car had to be shifted into 5th.

I haven't seen the article but being MMFF I am about 99.9% sure of Evan driving the car.

A 12.6 on a 2.06 60ft time is serious. If the track prep was a little better they might have seen 12.4s if they got a good 1.9 60ft on those stock tires.

Evan had to be shifting the **** out of that thing.

i ordered my cali Special with 3.73's

There is no difference in the GT's and C/S other then the front and rear bumper. The C/S actually has the GT500 rear bumper.

The only thing you can not get on the c/s is the Brembo brakes.

I think the reason he stated better times could be had with a non CS/GT is the non brembo skinnier meats. One would stand to reason that the wider summer tires of the Brembo package would net a slightly faster time with the same driver same day etc..

Evan Smith at MM&FF magazine ran a bone stock 07/09 GT500 to the tune of 12.25 in the 1/4 mile. I think the trap speed was 116??? The vast majority that I've seen at the tracks in person, though, struggle for traction on the factory tires and typically run high 12's to low 13's. Heck, I even saw one yahoo blaze the tires badly and run in the 14's! With this much power, you have to run drag radials or better - otherwise, you're just wasting your time at the dragstrip.
