Jingling sound on accel and decel above 20mph

My 2011 GT Automatic - is making a jingling sound on accel and decel above 20mph. It seems to be coming from the middle or passenger side of the engine.

You can only really hear it with windows up and radio/HVAC off.

HVAC fan makes it's own irritating noise.

Blipping the throttle on decel makes it go away for a second but then you can hear it again.

Engine temp makes no difference, but I never noticed this sound before it got cold in NJ.

Anyone else hearing this?

I think maybe it's just the car getting ready for Christmas, happening earlier and earlier every year... Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way!

LOL good ones does road surface make a diff as to when you hear the noise ? sounds like a snoop under the hood after it cools down may be in order looking for a metal washer or some other merry noise maker I wish i had my car to listen and see or hear if it made that particular noise !
lucky duck ..

Road surface makes no difference. It is engine RPM related for sure, though near undetectable when stopped, leading me to believe it may be trans related.

Check all your exhaust connections if you are worried. Let the car cool and shake all the pipes around to see if there is any squeaks or looseness.
I built a Custom Hot Rod and my exhaust header collector connection made some funny sounds the first few drives afterwards. The bolts and the metal expand and contract with the heat, and even if the stuff was torqued at the factory, it takes a few heat cycles to settle everything. You may have a header or an exhust flange connection joint that requires a re-torque like my Hot Rod did. Solved my issues...

What kind of sound is it really? High pitched? Low pitched? Electrical sounding (as in interference)? Does it happen around certain RPM or just the speed? Does it matter if you accelerate hard or take it easy? How long does it last?

Light accel and decel - between 1k-4k - sounds just likes keys jingling and comes from the middle to passenger side of the engine compartment.

Can not hear it on hard accel. Never goes away.

Hmmmm,

Could be a loose belt? Could be the alternator? A pulley? Odds are something is loose tho... Can't really say what.

No check engine lights I assume, and it still hasn't lost any 'driveability'?

Really I guess that'll leave it to the dealer to look into... hard to say.

2011 owners shouldn't pay too much attention to the validity of any complaints Argetni posts.

Compiled a few links from the OPs callout thread on SVTP. I definitely wouldn't send this guy my VIN like he requested in his extensive "shimmy" threads all over the internet.

I agree 100%.

It has to be a statistical impossibility for one guy to have a shimmy issue on 7 new cars (forgot to list his 2003 VW 1.8T that he says shimmy's) from 6 different manufacturers.

Complete

There are heat shields on the cats. I remember having a car where one was loose and it made the type of sound you are describing. They vibrate at different RPM's and this causes the jingling change sound you are hearing. Might just be as simple as tightening those bolts.

Unbelievable! Since 2000, I have owned 7 new cars. 2 VW's a Passat and a CC), 2 Pontiac GP/GTP/s, a Crossfire Limited, and two Mustangs (2007 CS, and my 2011 CS), all new cars purchased in SD, MN, and TX. Not one of these cars had a warranty related issue. They were all great cars driven long distances. My wife has had three Jeeps, and her current Passat Wagon. Again no warranty related issues or problems. All are driven daily, winter and summer and we live 14 miles from town.

I'm guessing sometime in 2002 he got in an accident and now has a permanent shimmy...and ever since them he just blames it on the cars and a defense mechanism.

and who buys 13 NEW cars in 12 years? sheesh!
