January Incentives

I noticed the new January incentives offered on 1/5 only last until 1/11. In the past it seems like the incentives lasted the whole month. Is Ford going to increase the incentives on 1/12 when they announce the '11 GT models to help empty the dealer lots or are they going to decrease the incentives due to the large increase in the December sales?

How do we know? It's all speculation.

I know incentives often vary by region. There are plenty of '10s on dealer lots here in Silicon Valley, so I would expect rebates to increase here as the '11s start to ship. But then selection may not be as good if you wait.

Jeff

Any idea on what Ford is up to on the short run of the January incentives? I assume Ford will issue new ones on 1/12. I am just trying to figure out if I should wait until next week to try to purchase the GT that I am looking at. The car being in another state makes the purchase this week a little more difficult since I'll have to take a day off to drive down there. If I wait until next week it should be more convenient.

Ford's best incentives have usually preceeded the introduction of a new MY. I'd expect maximun rebates during the months of March and April.

This is really what I am hoping for! I have a 2006 Cobalt daily driver that my lease is going to be up on in May - last payment due in April. So I hope to be able to find a nice 2010 around that period for a good price.

I priced out a Camaro LS since I have a GM Card top off and even with that discount the payment would be far more than I want to pay for what amounts to a stripper car.

I'm betting I can get a Mustang Premium for less than a Camaro LS come spring. I know it won't be as powerful as the 2011 (or the Camaro), but they have a lot of nice features and it will be a big step up from my current ride!

BTW, I am new here. Been reading for about six months, but just registered today. Great site.

Hey Roger, the rebates NEVER get worse, only better. You'll be fine if you want to hold off until next week. Like George said, the rebates and incentives do get better once the new model year is released.

New rebates were NOT announced yesterday. Ford simply extended the existing rebates' deadline from January 4th to January 11th. The rebates we have right now are the same rebates we had most of the 4th quarter of 2009.

Come on now, Jeff, you know that occasionally a rebate gets worse even though 95% of the time get better as the model year progresses.

Hey Brian, the ONLY time I saw the rebates get worse, was on an Econoline van. A vehicle that we don't sell alot of, and it went down $500. This was a few years ago. It was the only time in the past 5 years at least, the rebates got worse.

Your right, they can get worse, but most of the time, they get better.

Looking at the Ford site today, it looks like the new incentives for my area are $1,000 Promotional Bonus Customer Cash (Program #11764) AND $500 Retail Customer Cash (Program #11766) OR financing (Program #20228):

0.0% for 36 months
0.9% for 48 months
1.9% for 60 months
3.9% for 72 months

Last month there was $1,500 cash that could be combined with 1.9 financing. I wonder if there will be better after these expire March 31? My current lease expires May 4 so I was hoping they'd sweeten the pot a little for March. Waiting for May 1 will be cutting it close...

Well, rebates got much better for new 2010 Mustangs in the NW this morning! It was a total of $1500 yesterday, and now it is $3000 (if you finance with FMCC) or $2000 (if you pay cash or finance through a different lender).

Metro Detroit we are $2000 cash (1000 customer cash and 1000 Auto Show Incentive) OR the finance rates mentioned above...

I love 0% financing. My '10 will be paid off in less than 2 1/2 years. Why pay cash money when your money can work for you

Looks like the new incentive would cost me $1,815 more assuming I could get the 5.9% interest rate. I was thinking the incentives would go down since December had a large upswing in Mustang sales. I may a month and hopefully the cold January weather and rising gas prices will cause the Mustang sale to get back to the October/November levels and get Ford to increase the incentives.
