They were even harsher than the Autoblog guys.

It is a sad day when an online magazine/blog starts off with "It may seem like sacrilege to ask this but, does the Shelby name mean anything anymore?" Even though I tend to agree with it (on modern cars), it is still sad that such a nameplate has been reduced to this.

This article was right on the money! That is one pudgy Mustang.

Overdone styling. The GT350 feel should the exterior should have had a traditional side stripe, plain rally stripes, SHR louvers, California Special front splitter, body colored molding, and a plain, smooth rear bumper . The only styling element that looks good is the badging, ducktail and tail light treatment. The tail pipes should have been left alone.

You would think they could have done the A-Pillar guages better. They just screwed them in and I think it is so tacky with the screws showing.

It doesn't do anything for me. If Ford/Shelby aren't careful the Shelby name plate may become so diluted it will lose it's significance, IMO,

Whilst I agree with what you'd have liked, styling-wise, I do feel for Shelby. If all they'd done it lightly modified a CS/GT facia etc, everyone would have been like "Meh - they haven't tried hard enough"

I think this body style is already over styled and does not do well when you add all this crap. This Mustang looks best left cleaner. The painted black does nothing but make the car look huge. Should have kept it cleaner like the Saleen but with their own twist.

I agree. Shelby is basically Ted Williams at the end of his life at this point. Sitting there being forced to sign his name on crap for profit. Getting wheeled out to shows here and there to wave.

The Shelby name lost credibility when the Shelby GT came out IMO. It lost more credibility when Mr Shelby himself signed off on the monstrosity that came out of the West Coast Customs shop. It's like they're designing these cars for the wrong market... But I bet there are 2200 suckers out there who will pay for the Shelby name, the Shelby badge, the GT350 badge, the other GT350 badge, the GT350 rocker decals, the GT350 hood decals, and the GT350 valve covers...

Well seeing this last night made me feel that much better about ordering the 500. More car for LESS money!
Also,
Did anyone catch what Carroll said last night about his partnership with Ford? "We build the cars Ford couldn't make money on!" Uh, sure they could, if they charged $70,000 for the car like you are.

Wow... just wow. It's the Euro350! Awesome! I hear they're working on a killer double-decker wing for it.

Last night, I was hoping Carrol Shelby was going to come out on stage, hold a box up in the air and say "you can't remake a classic, coke tried it, it don't work. The early sixties were special cause Shelby American built cars to race, Ford sold 'em to you folks so you could have a race car for the streets. We all won. Those days are gone and ain't never coming back, get over it. In this here box is a commemorative set of GT 350 stripes, personally signed by me. Each box is $1000. Stick'em on whatever you want...everything's going to charity".

Another modded mustang, so what.
I love what Shelby did on the track, what he did for Ford, what he did for Mustangs. Back in 1965 he built GT 350 Mustangs to win races, today Shelby American builds cars to make money trading off of the heritage from the glory days when the cars he built meant something.

I agree, definitely, although I'm not sure what you mean by overstyled. The 2010 has more going on than the model it replaced (which isn't saying much), yes, and is far more aggressive-looking, IMO, but that hardly constitutes an exercise in overstyling. If you want an example of that, look no further than the new Camaro.

I meant that the 05-09 was plain so when you tacked on some of these body kits or body accessories it worked with the car to make it more aggressive looking. With the current body style it just not seem to work or flow as well. Example rear side window louvers looked good on the 05-09 were when i see them on the '10+ because of the hip it just does not look good to me. I think its all the curves and angles on the car. GT500 rear spoiler, Chin spoiler, GT 500 wheels and you are set on SG color car.

I wasn't disagreeing with you at all. In fact, I think you're spot-on with your assessment.

I definitely agree with both of you. Clean is the best look on the 2010+

A lot of accessories look tacked on.
