Keep shoppin'. I had to visit 5 different dealerships before one would sell me what I wanted to order for invoice price less rebates. After all the paperwork was signed I saved nearly 13% off sticker price for a factory made-to-order base GT + trk pkg + recaros + ghig paint. And I still can't stop driving it.

Shop around. Go to all the dealers in your city. don't shop at just one dealer.

I agree - I found the best deal at one of three dealers in my area (it's a small town). work it and you'll be happy (I played the wife doesn't wanna spend this much money - and they came down a little).

Ordered one brochure, just came in the mail today - I'm 1 for 1! I got to do the little "I just saved $750 with a coupon" dance. My wife's a coupon shopper, so truly appreciates one for $750. Too bad dealerships don't have double-coupon days.

Now if only I had the car built to go with it . . .

I ordered mine prior to the price list coming out. We made a deal for invoice less rebates and that is what I paid. I dealt with a dealer in a small town and the owner was my sales rep.

That said I know the guy. I live in a small town, in a small town the dealers will have trouble pulling crap as they will get a reputation.

that said, when I lived in the big town, I was able to get the same deal on a chevy truck by contacting the fleet/Internet guy. He told me about some rebates I did not know existed and I paid $100 over invoice, again, less rebates, and on a truck that listed over $40k that is insignificant.

Bottom line:

The dealer needs to make a profit and if you can buy at invoice plus or minus $400 depending on your market you are good for a $30k car. If the car is lower priced they need to make a little more as they have less hold back. Think about it. 2% hold back on a 20k car is a lot different than 2% hold back on a 40k car.

If you are offering invoice on a top of the line car it is easy, if you are looking for the same deal on a bottom of the line you may have trouble.

Everyone mfs these guys but do you want to finance 50 or 100 cars on the lot?

Got it for invoice, minus the ADV Fee. I did pay for fuel, at 60 bucks. Not going to cry over that. Deal has been made! ORDER SUBMITTED!

And of course thanks to everyone, especially Jeff who helped me know what was reasonable to ask for.

It seems the ADV fee is price dependent. The higher the price of the vehicle, the higher the ADV fee. The ADV on my car equaled 1.64% of the total dealer invoice minus the destination and delivery charge and the ADV fee.

Is the GT really $40k? I just couldn't see myself ever paying $40k or more for a mustang. I guess that's just me though.

Agreed. Got my Base Auto for 28900 out the door. All depends on what you want and what you're willing to pay for it.

The only thing I didn't get (besides the cosmetic exterior stuff) was the recaro and brembo package. I consider it fully loaded besides those options. Can be pricey compared to base models, but this will be my daily driver and touring car. Can't wait to take this on trips across state and through as many curvy highways as possible. Will have plenty of creature comforts to keep the wife and I happy.

Just got $4500 off a 13 BOSS 302, ford employees "D" plan, but not all dealers will honor it on a specialty car, lucky me I found one. My son's dealer would not consider selling one under MSRP.

Well bud, one of two things. Either your not telling the truth (and I'm not saying you are or aren't), or you found a dealer who is just too stupid to check the list and wound up losing alot of money on the car. I say this as the Boss 302 is on the ineligible vehicles list. No plan sales on it. And I have the document from Ford below that shows it. If you truely did get it (and you may have), you should play the lottery next as that dealer is just stupid, as they will soon learn they won't get any D-Plan commission back from Ford. They will wonder where it is.

Just because there is a price in each box on an invoice (A/Z Plan, D-Plan and X-Plan) doesn't mean its automatically eligible. They print the prices anyway. If the car is on the list of ineligible and there is no dealer commission listed on the VINCENT, the dealer just lost more than their shirt!!! Hope the link below helps people understand.

Jeff, will the X-Plan help with the document fees on a 2013 GT500?
