Installed Magnaflow Street axle backs on the 2014 GT today
I finally got around to installing the Magnaflow Street axle backs on my wife 2014 GT convertible. I read pretty much every write up and watched every video on doing the job. I came up with a plan of attack that worked out very good. It took about an hour to do rolling around on the garage floor.
I sprayed all the rubber hangers with some wd-40 then I started off on the drivers side by loosening the muffler clamp bolts to the end of the threads but not completely removing the bolt from the nut. Then I popped the muffler off the rear hanger using a muffler removal tool (well worth the $20 investment).
There are 3 bolts on the drivers side front hanger. I pulled down on the tip of the muffler to make access of the hangar bolt above the muffler easier. I used a offset 13 mm wrench on that bolt until it was out enough to get the 13 mm ratcheting wrench on it. I used a 13 mm ratcheting wrench on the other 2 bolts. Then the muffler drops righ out. I cut the tab that holds the clamp to the muffler with a pair of tin snips. (The clamps have to be re-used with this set of axle backs).
I used the tool to pop the mufflers off the hangar and then bolted the hanger back up to the car.
I placed the clamp on the new muffler and then slid the muffler into the two front hanger rubbers. Once on the front hangers I slid the muffler into the rear hanger. I lined up and held the tailpipe in place while my buddy positioned and tightened up the clamp. Pretty easy task.
Then we repeated the process on the passenger side. There is only 2 front hanger bolts on the passenger side so the job goes even quicker.
Everything lined up really nice. Installing the new mufflers was actually far easier than removing the stock ones.
The sound is great. It is louder and deeper in tone when compared to the stock mufflers and really turns heads when you stomp on the go pedal.
Very pleased with the way these sound.
The hanger tool.

No highway driving yet.
Maybe on Sunday.
Sound clips are never an accurate representation of how an exhaust sounds so I don't usually bother.
Vrrrrrroooommmmm!!!!
In most cases. Lol

all 3 of us should rock the pipes through the tunnel on sunday, over and over LOL. although that would be a PITA.
Last night on my way home from picking the Mrs up from the airport had a clown in a V6 Chrysler 300 pull up beside me on Cambie St.
The goof drives beside me for a bit and then guns it and changes lanes in front of me. Not even worth wasting gas on clowns like that.
But if we had ended up beside him at a red light.......heheh
