Funny, I guess Edmunds forgot that the '05-'09 cars have 'metallic trim on the dashboard', too.

I keep hearing that, too - "it's REAL metal this time." I thought the IUP panels were REAL aluminum also?

Not absolutely certain, however, I believe the present ones (05 - 09) are more of a painted aluminum on plastic (at least thats the impression I get from it in my car) while the 10 will be just an aluminum section rather than painted onto a piece of plastic.
I havent been in one in person so that is just a guess based on the way it is emphasized and on some comments from articles where the Ford person made refrence to the old one being painted on aluminum and the new one being real aluminum.

The aluminum dash panels in the current car ARE real aluminum...make no mistake about it.

It's just journalistic ignorance.

It's Edmunds. What else would you expect from them?

Ok so here is my question? do the guys testing these cars suck at driving? I have read in motortrend and some other magazines where they got the 2005 stang to 60mph in 5.1 seconds. I have read articles from the same magazines where they got to bullit to 60mph in 5 sec flat? Why are these guys only able to pull out 5.4 second runs? I have always wonderd this. Oh and motortrend drivers also got the GT 500 to 60 in 4.4 seconds where as autoblog could only do it in 4.9 ahhaahaha I think there is a lack of driving skill on that one!

The 0-60 times have become a contest between the various magazines and blogs, which means they're ripe for "enhancement." Considering Motor Trend's all-around crappy record of late, I'd say they're cooking their numbers. Take the TRD Tundra test they did, 4.4 seconds 0-60 in a massively nose-heavy TRUCK that weights 1,200 lbs more than the 4.5-second GT-500? Yeah, Right.

It's a Toyota...which means the press automatically shaves five-tenths of a second off the time before the thing even does a run.

I believe the confusion about the Aluminum Trim comes from the fact that All 2010's will have Aluminum Dash Trim. I haven't seen one yet without it, not even a V6. As opposed to the 05-09 Mustangs, the Aluminum, on the dash was part of the IUP.
