My buddy ordered the SCT and Steeda kit and only made 389 with it. So it did not make 40rwhp with his. This was going from 93 to 93. Baseline was 367. Maybe the Livernois tune make the difference?

Congrats and simply amazing. I've never seen a car dyno the exact same stock and tuned numbers weeks later.

Congrats!
I hope more people dyno there cars and post the results. It's good for everyone.
I love your car and it's numbers are unlike any out there. Enjoy it!

GREAT Numbers Shaun!!!

Thanks for all the positive feed back everyone!! No wonder I can't keep these things on the shelf!

Dyno numbers are just that, numbers. But our on track testing "on the same day" showed serious gains. With the tune and the CAI the drivability is better, throttle responce is better and the car picks up big time.

Can't knock these cars, the 5.0's are for real!!

I agree you can not measure the performance gain on a dyno alone. What were the track #'s on the same day?

Great improvements. I know a guy with just a SCT canned tune, lowered and slicks went a 12.22. So it looks like all tunes are netting the same times yet the dyno #'s vary so much. He just installed the Steeda CAI so we will see if there is any improvements.

The one thing that is not properly conveyed with the video is the sound that now comes from this car at WOT. It makes such an evil roar from under the hood when you stand on the throttle. I got to drive it yesterday after Shaun picked it up from Livernois, and it just makes sounds I've never heard from a CAI before. Simply awesome.

It's our "true" velocity stack that makes this CAI sound so mean!!

Thanks for the kind words too!!

I sure hope so too! This was the 93 vs 93 test people were asking for, and in 5th gear which people were asking about too. So this should put that baby to bed

You're kidding right?

What I am about to quote I found on a completely different forum, but it pretty much sums up exactly how i feel on the subject when people make statements like this... the quote in question was on a debate over just 6 horsepower, not 25 horsepower like was gained around 5,000 in this thread.

When the hell did people start getting so hung up on just one horsepower number. Yeah 6hp peak, but what about the rest of the powerband? C'mon people. One peak number never tells the whole story. Its the power over a wide rpm range that counts.

Back in my fox body days I had both a C&L 73mm and Pro-M 75mm mass air for my 93 lx. The Pro-M would drive perfectly, but it felt slower. The C&L felt faster, but it had idle issues.

Eventually I dyno'd both on the same dyno on the same day at a dyno day. The C&L made "only 3 more hp" on the peak numbers, but the rest of the curve told something more interesting that people today would simply ignore.

At the track I would consistently go .12 to .16 quicker and over 1 mph in trap speed faster from my "only 3hp" mass air.

I'll take the 6 peak hp any day if it comes with power over other points in the powerband as well.
We have more than enough data out there now to support all our performance claims. Between this independent dyno, our own data, the 1/2 second gains we have showed in track testing. There is no reason to doubt the performance you will gain from our 2011 5.0L cold air.

I should have done this first, but I can make up for it now and say give a big THANK YOU to Shaun and Livernois Motorsports for putting this all together. We greatly appreciate the support!!!

Could not agree more. My other post where I quote the "6 horsepower" discussion from another forum is a prefer example. The best dyno is the track. Take it out and run it!

On the second quote, you are also not putting up the whole story just writing peak to peak gains and are concentrating on just "one number" like so many people do. I got a dyno sheet right in my desk that the peak gain on the car in question is "only" 28 horsepower. Yet you can easily find points in the powerband where 40+ horsepower was gained. Such as 5400 where the gain was 42hp.

One number doesnt tell the whole story, and it certainly doesnt translate into track performance. Take it to the track and see!

Why did my buddies car only make 22rwhp with your tune/intake? Baselined it then installed CAI and tune. This was going from 93 to 93 and in 5th gear.

as the other poster said, different dyno, different day, all different variables

The tune is Steeda's tune. Big difference between 18rwhp.

We have been testing CAIs at the track and our auto runs faster with the stock intake so far, even though the CAI made more power on the dyno. We'll be testing more CAIs to confirm, but the autos suffer if they loose too much on the hit.

Thanks for that info. I think more should wait and not jump on these tunes and CAI until more real world results are available as the dyno only tells part of the story. What CAI's did you use so far?
