I'm So Getting Rid of This Piece of ****

Not to play devils advocate on behalf of Al but I have noticed that my rear axle was left unpainted and subsequently developed a coating of surface rust while all of the GT's and special edition V6 Mustangs I have seen had painted axles. I'm sure it was left unpainted so that Ford could save production costs. Frankly I wasn't thrilled about the concept of paying 26 grand for a car that had a rusty axle two months later. All of these car companies now are just run by bean counting penny pinchers who find ways to cut costs wherever they can. As a result we end up with things like cheap pinion seals and cheap plastic impellers in our water pumps. Also I could agree with you regarding the car getting miles put on it because it was my daily driver but any car that has three major failures with less than 50K on it is just not acceptable to me regardless of weather it's a daily driver or a garage queen. If it was something like a bad power window switch or a brake rotor that has to be replaced that's one thing. But when I had to have the entire AC system replaced at 37K I started to get concerned and there is a thread on this forum that has numerous owners who have had their AC system die somewhere between 30 and 60K. It's very disappointing because I really enjoyed the car and it is great looking car but I am just not going to deal with yet another issue every couple of months.

And of course the car companies cut costs wherever they can. Almost every single part of every single car short of a Rolls-Royce is a compromise in some way - engineering, material, expected life, etc. because the overall vehicle has to hit a certain price point to be a viable product in the marketplace and still deliver decent profit for Ford. I have never seen profitability numbers on the Mustang, but my guess is they don't make much on most of them, though the margin is probably fairly healthy on GT Premiums. However, they're built here in the US so the labor costs are higher than most other countries - hence the Focus being moved to Mexico (the thing Trump keeps screaming about) and being replaced by the higher-margin Ranger/Bronco (probably) at the Wayne plant.

Nothing wrong with being an optimist. In this case, however, there are instances of parts that have failed, been replaced under warranty and subsequently failed again. The AC system and pinion seals have both had instances of repeated failure after having once been replaced under warranty. So yes, there is reason to suspect the problems would recur and I wasn't inclined to wait around for it to happen.

My '13 GT Premium convertible with Brembo package does not have a painted axle. As stated, Boss 302 and track pack cars were the only with painted axles from the factory.

Eh, I have had my share of issues here and there but overall the 3.7 Mustang of mine has been awesome. Had the transmission rebuilt and the water pump but both were covered under warranty. The transmission isn't 100% but Ford is blaming the Spec clutch I had installed. So if the transmission goes again then they will either fix it or it will sit in the garage until I can afford to fix it.
I couldn't trade in my 2014 even if I wanted since they only want to give me 10k for my car. They claim the airbag recall puts a big hit on the trade value even if the recall gets fixed. So with that being said I am content with keeping the car for the long haul.
Every car will have its issues. Some less than others. It depends on if it becomes more costly to repair than it is worth. If you are unhappy then that is understandable but others are happy with their 3.7 Mustangs so I mean it happens. GM is going to be similar. Maybe you will get a good Colorado/ Canyon. They are nice mid size trucks. I really want an F-150 though :P
