IF or When you will need to swap MT82, what will you put?

Lets say your warranty is no longer valid or lets say you are over 60k drivetrain warranty and your MT82 goes out... what will you do? will you buy another MT82 or will you buy a T56 or will you buy a TKO600 or any other one?

im assuming you might have to use the same housing thats on the mustang right now and just bolt up the new clutch, flywheel, and new driveshaft, but everything else should be able to fit, just a guess here.

5 options are, sell your car, buy another MT82, buy a T56, or TKO600, or other ??

There's a member here that has already put a T6060 in his. Can't remember his name, and I haven't seen him post in a while.

You have only two choices if you want a bolt-in, another MT82 or the new Tremec TR6060/T56 conversion.

Anything else will take some engineering.

Considering it will probably be 4-5 years before I get to 60k, I'm going to guess replace with an upgraded MT82. It's hard to know what the aftermarket will figure out in that time.

Really don't think it's going to be an issue though.

The MT82 is one of the best transmissions I have ever had the pleasure of using. I have shifted a T-5 a T-3650 and the TR6060, while the 6060 was nice it was a little bit notchy and getting into second was a little bit tough on rare occasions.

The MT-82 is very fluid and his nice short crisp shifts with a nice feel to it so you know you are in gear.

Although I've had problem's with my Mt-82, I do enjoy how it shifts over any other transmission I've driven now that it's rebuilt. If I were to do a swap it would have to be a bolt in kit so my vote would be for a Tr6060. I can't say what will happen aftermarket wise for the MT-82, but I'm hoping by the time my warranty is up there will be a built indestructible unit to replace my stocker with.

You are really, really worked up and unhappy with your car, geez. I won't replace mine with anything, as I expect it to give me trouble-free performance past 100k. And I've got a powertrain warranty that ensures it'll be cost-free to that point at least. So I don't continually stress about the **** thing.

T-6060.

Though I like how I have only 1 OD gear with the MT82 and not 2 OD's.

I know im not going to have this car for that long but if I was looking for a new transmission I would opt for the 6sp auto.

Are the ratio's the same in the non MT82 choices? Would they be a good match for the 5.0 powerband?
I'd be inlcined to stay with the MT82 because of that, plus the "fix" seems to have worked well. I don't see any problem threads with the revised components.

Mine is not the best shifting tranny i've experienced , but with the Steeda tranny mount and Tri-ax shifter , it makes it more fun rowing through the gears.
Hope mine holds till the 15's come out.

I love the way it shifts im just gonna make it a little quicker next week as i ordered the steeda shifter and bracket. i havent had any issues with mine so far and dont forsee any as i probably will only track the car once or twice in its lifetime. If i like the new body styles that much then i may think about trading this in but highly doubt it.. i love this car

Another MT82. Would most likely just get my current one rebuilt. Don't plan on ever doing it though.

I will probably keep the MT82 for the duration, but replace the shifter -- possibly going with a MGW short throw shifter. I've already made my first mod, which is disabling the skp shift (1st to 4th lock-out).

I looked it up for another member a couple nights ago. D&D Transmissions has the TR6060 kit for under $3k, magnum kits for under $4k. Or you can put the MGW shifter in yours with a good clutch and probably have no problems with the 82.

Mgw = gift from heaven.

Seems like a brand new car that's much more fun and solid to shift. Love it.
