Hi everyone, first time poster here.
Just wanted to say that I also made the top 25. My story is the last one on the far right side--the chrome pony logo with the grey background. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my story had made the finals until just yesterday, so I wasn't even able to vote for myself until the last day.
I don't know about you other guys, but I never saw my story/picture on the contest website. I emailed the contest administrators several times to ask them if my story had been received, but I never got a response. So I eventually gave up and just forgot about it. I was shocked to see my story when I logged on yesterday...so I'm happy to see that someone liked my story enough to make the final cut.
Anyway, just wanted to say good luck to the other finalists. We'll find out who wins tomorrow or the next day!

Yeah, I've got my fingers crossed, but I don't know if I even have a chance against the other finalists because I didn't have time to ask my friends/family for votes during the entire voting phase of the contest. I'd love to know how many people submitted stories and how many votes were cast for the finalists. I'm guessing that most of the votes were probably cast by family/friends of the finalists. My story was also all alone at the far right of the screen, so I'm sure that didn't help either! I'm not complaining though....I'm happy to see I made the final cut!

I'm excited for you! It sounds like one guy in the top 25 was part of a big social network and got lots of people to vote for him. We had a couple guys here too as you know, but I'm not sure how it will work out. For all we know, all it did is narrow it down and then people at Ford chose the winner amongst the top five or something.
After reading the contest rules, it seems like the final winner will be based soley on the number of votes received. I don't think Ford will choose the winner, based upon the contest rules.

Really? Which contest was part of a social network? It will be interesting to see if he wins.

This is "the big social network"

I would guess that Ford would vet (no pun intended) the winner really hard to make sure he/she wasn't a felon, wife beater, had a DWI in his/her background etc. I don't think they would have had time or resources to do all finalists, but you can be sure they are checking out the winner so that it does not reflect badly on them. I'm not saying any of them are, I don't know them at all. But if you were Ford and were unvailing a Mustang with as much anticipation as this, wouldn't you take a good look at the winner before letting them know.

It looks like this contest is going to come down to whomever is able to get the most people voting for him/her, sort of like a popularity contest.

Wow, I guess I'm truly a big underdog, considering that I didn't have time to ask anyone to vote for my story! LOL. Oh well, if I win I'll be shocked...

I almost think they should have allowed people to only vote once.
#75
I agree... but then you'd have people making up phony email addresses to get multiple votes. Maybe they should have just used a panel of judges to decide on the winner. I wonder how many judges there were to pick the 25 finalists?
#76
I thought it said in the rules that people who make up and use multiple email addresses would be disqualified.

But either way, I look at it as if I have a 1 in 25 shot of winning. If I win, I'll be really happy. If not, well, I'll still be happy that my story made it to the finals.

Sure, but it's not going to be so easy to determine if someone is making up phony emails. They should be able to check the IP addresses of the votes and see if someone is sitting down at the same computer and voting multiple times. But even that's not going to prove that the votes aren't legit. What if five people from the same family all vote from the same family computer? The IPs would be the same, but the email addresses would be different.

This contest is obviously sponsored by Ford, but it is admistered by "eprize" something or other... I'd like to think that they were looking out for people breaking the rules, if that actually happened.
But either way, I look at it as if I have a 1 in 25 shot of winning. If I win, I'll be really happy. If not, well, I'll still be happy that my story made it to the finals.
