I finally had some engine tapping on my 2014 GT.

For now, I'm going to do what Turbo302 is doing and just run it. It will go back in the garage soon and will stay there the rest of the winter so I can deal with it in the spring if it is still an issue. Thanks everyone.

Edit: I just went out to start it after it has been sitting since Wednesday evening and it there were no tapping noises. It is 45 degrees out. So maybe it was just from sitting so long without being started and because the outside temps were pretty low.
Thanks for the update, 70monte!

Did the noise sound like piston slap? If it sounds lower and louder than injector noise my next thought would be piston slap, especially seeing as it goes away once warmed up. But I dont know why you'd be hearing this on a stock motor, this isnt GM afterall....

It was a little sharper tone than piston slap. I have two 98 chevy trucks, one with a 7.4L big block and one with the 5.7L and both under certain conditions have piston slap and the noise that I was getting out of the Mustang was a little louder and sharper. I have driven the car a few times since then and have not heard a thing. Maybe it was a fluke, who knows. The car is now put back up probably for the rest of the winter.
