How's the MPGs on your new V6 2011 Mustang?

Are you getting good numbers like you're supposed to or is your foot too much into the new power to give it a decent chance at finding out?

I'm interested as well. Now that my 2010 V6 has had some of a chance to break in I am seeing 23.5 MPG in mixed driving. Even though mine is rated 26 on the highway, I have seen readouts in the upper 28's while on the highway. I am looking into doing an underdrive pulley in the near future to further help that number.

With around 380 miles on my Mustang i checked my mileage. Automatic transmission with 3.31 rear gear ratio. The computer said 18.1 but i checked it the old manual way. I got 20.7 mpg, all hilly in town driving (not bumper to bumber). This is with a few floorings to let the engine loosen up some LOL!!!

I bet it will take at least a couple thousands miles before getting the mpgs this car is rated at. If you take a 100+ mile trip see what you get.

Plus bottom line is the 2.73 rear axle is going to get better lileage than the 3.31 rear axle anyway.

I'll be doing a 250 mile drive at the end of this month. Its around 85% highway and 15% city. I'll post my m.p.g. to this Thread.

On Camaro5 (i check it out from time to time) the V-6 people seem to be getting 'bad' gas mileage.

Absolutely... and the 31MPG number was derrived using a car with the 2.73:1 ratio. I would expect to see at least 1-1.5 MPG hit with using the 3.31:1
This was part of my reasoning behind getting a '10 V6... not only was it much cheaper, it's 26 MPG rating would not be all that different from how I would have gotten an '11 with the 3.31 (manual trans on both) I probably would have only seen 28ish with the '11.

Suggestion: For more accurate mileage readings, highly recommend keeping records of miles traveled vs gallons used over several fillups. The computer readouts are nice, but aren't always accurate. There is an example above of the computer possibly being pessimistic, and I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that the one in my 08 Dodge truck is ~1 mpg optimistic.

Be interesting to hear results from both the 6s and the 8s. A lot of folks don't concern themselves with gas mileage when buying a sporty car, but its something that I certainly take into consideration.

Just got my 5.0 last Friday and was on call over the weekend. Have only got 100 miles on it.
It is getting 14 mpg.
I am loving every minute of it. I have snapped more than a couple of necks with 6MT.

I'm getting around 18mpg in my V6 3.31. I have just under 400 miles on it so far. I've been filling up with E10 so that may be affecting the fuel economy. I'm gonna try to find regular gasoline for my next fill-up and see how much of a difference that makes.

Hey, how's the acceleration with the 3.31 paired to the 6MT? Other impressions? There are a few of us on here that have been looking for someone that has the V6 with the 3.31 rear end and the manual. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Been driving my V6 in stop and go since the 7th and right now I'm getting 17.7 MPG. Which kind of has me sad, tbh. You can watch the gas gage go down.

I can happily give you my feedback.
I dont have many miles on the car as of yet, but I can def. say that at 20 mph I am in 3rd gear and the acceleration is pretty quick esp. since I have an auto.
I am getting around 20-22 mpg with 50/50 city/highway.
I gotta say that if you have the few extra hundred to spend def. get the 3.31 gears.
Gas mileage doesnt really suffer that much and you def. get much better gears.
Remember based off of the tests the v6 w/ 3.31 gears is as fast as a 350z in the quarter.

Nice to see you back posting about your new Mustang, Ingrid. Bummer about the fuel economy but I'd say give it a little time and a long highway trip before you get too upset. My F150 gets about 14 and my CTS-V got about the same. So 18 would be a pretty nice improvement, at least percentage wise. And remember, horsepower costs.

I can't really compare the acceleration to any other configuration because I've never actually driven a Mustang before. I ordered my Mustang blindly, without ever sitting in one. That said, I'm VERY impressed by the car overall, and it far exceeded my expectations. The car always seems like it wants to go faster than I want to (plenty of traffic around here), and it revs up to redline effortlessly. Even though it's not a big V8, I love the way the car sounds, windows up and windows down. I have the Premium coupe, and the Sync + Navigation radio are amazing! While I'm at it, let me say that I love the entire interior. Sorry I can't give you any comparisons.
