How things stack up for the 2010 against the rest.
How things stack up for the 2010 against the rest.
2010 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 315HP
2009 370Z 3.7L V6 332HP
2009 Challenger R/T 5.7L V8 375HP
2010 Camaro SS 6.2L V8 422HP
So basically the GT will get smoked by the 370z and Camaro SS in stock trim and beat the Challenger R/T.
I'll fill this out with more info as I get time.

I'm working on getting some details. I can tell you flat you the 370z will out handle the Stang and it's light as hell. The Camaro SS has it beat in straight power and we know the current 08 Bullitt can beat a Challenger R/T straight up.
While you're at it--
Since you're bench-racing, why not throw in the optional SC 4.6 available in the 2010? MT has already done a Challenger R/T test, (look it up if you're curious)--the R/T price as tested was over $39K. A base Mustang GT with the optional blower probably would price-out about the same.
And since you're comparing against the competition; why not include a comparison of the Mustang V6 convertible, against the new Camaro convertible? Or compare the GT500 convertible against the Challenger SRT8 convertible?
Sorry--just kidding. I'm just glad there'll be a Mustang next year. Right now, with the economic situation the way it is, there is no guarantee there will be a new Camaro. (If GM declares bankruptcy... well let's just say that's not a very good incentive for product sales.) With all product development on hold, there won't be a 2010 convertible F5 Camaro, 2011, 2012 maybe--depending on the terms of the bail-out. With Chrysler on the block, it's very doubtful there will be a 2010 Challenger. (BTW, Dodge has already announced there won't be a Challenger convertible--no money for development. Too bad--the aftermarket product at SEMA looked good.)

A GT will beat a V-6 Camaro and Hyundai by 6-8 car lengths in the quarter. I like the Hyundai but it won't weigh much less than 3500 lbs or about the same as a GT. Peak HP isn't everything. Power under the curve and power to weight ratio wins in a straight line.
Unfortunately, a V6 Mustang won't. And that's what you should be comparing.
I agree. There should be a comparo for the V6's as it is the best selling mustang. However, the hyundai is comparing there coupe to the GT not the V6. Base models would be there turbo four wich probably will out run the v6 mustang too.
Just thought of another. the Nissan Altima coupe
I found this info a little while ago as my wife is interested in new car, and these were on her short list.
Current Tiburon 2.7L = 17lbs/hp 17/24mpg
Current Altima 2.5L = 18lbs/hp 23/32mpg
Current Altima 3.5L = 11.85lbs/hp 19/27mpg
Current Mustang 4.0L = 16lbs/hp 17/26mpg
Current Mustang 4.6L = 11.5lbs/hp 15/24mpg
Current My Mustang 3.8L = 16lbs/hp 17/27mpg
your comparning a mustang GT to a camaro SS, shouldnt you be comparing a "top model" vs a "top model" as in SS vs GT500 ?
