Exclamation How to tell a GT Premium from just a GT?

We are looking at a vehicle online. It is listed as a GT - but under comments it says premium. It doesn't mention leather seats - but says heated seats - and some of the other standard equipment seems to be missing but not all.

The price is 27,996 and it only has 4041 miles on it. It is also a certified and will come with a 4 year full warranty and 7/100,000 drive train. + good rates for financing thru Ford. We are trying to decide if it is worth looking at. My husband is pretty sure he doesn't want to buy a car right now - but it just seems like it might be a great time to buy - especially if we hit them on the last day of October - (Saturday) for inventory numbers etc.

We would have to drive almost 3 hours to see it....and we would have to get quick financing approval which shouldn't be a problem. But he is thinking for snow - We are in WI he thinks it would be too low to the ground to drive thru heavy snow but we do have a 4 wheel drive pick-up we could use. My car is the GT/CS Convertible and will be stored for the winter.

Thoughts

Here is a cut/paste from the 2014 Mustang brochure. Look for these in the pictures.

Also, feel free to PM me a link to the car online and I'll take a look. I was in the same position early last year in looking at a car 3 hours away. Finally, that cost seems high. I paid 26,500 for a 2013 GT Premium (in January 2014) that was CPO with 12k miles.

Thanks - it does turn out to be a Premium. Strange they listed it under just GT. Not sure if we will try and look at it yet or not. Not sure how it will drive in the winter. Assuming you have all year round tires on - or invest in snow tires. UUUCKK. All depends if they are willing to drop the price more for the "quick sale" they are trying to get.

The GT is perfectly fine in the winter even with the pirelli tires. I daily drive mine in heavy traffic and on highways in ice and snow. Just remember how much power it has and go slow. You will be fine. Some sand bags in the trunk also help. The worst part of winter is the cringe-worthy amount of salt corroding your undercarriage.

Depends on where you'd be spending your winter...

It will drive just like any other car in the winter. Without winter tires anywhere from awful to slightly less awful. With winter tires, great.

NJ... We got several storms last year...lots of snow. Not Massachusetts snow, but quite a bit mixed with lots of bad drivers.

It is a Premium. Thanks for photo! They sent me a copy of the sticker. They just keep saying the price is fair. They price agressively. They don't work on commission and they just lowered it for a quick sale. I told my husband they won't tell us they will negotiate thru email. That MIGHT happen if we go there. I am trying to convince him to drive and look at it. it was originally priced at 35,000 so dropping it 7005 to 27995, is only a drop of 20 percent. I've been told of similar sales dropping almost 30 percent. And my husband insists he really doesn't want it, even though I know he does. If they would drop 1000 more he would scoop it up.But what do I know. Lol. All I know is yes it is impractical for a daily driver in winter. But hoping to be in Florida in 2 years or so and would love to be a 2 Stang family. Gorgeous Cherry red too. Clashe's a bit with my Race Red. But I could live with that.

I see wrong descriptions all the time on dealer websites. Always look at the window sticker link to double check.

So you're trying to convince your husband to buy a second Mustang, do you have a sister?

Well it is NJ

For the few times a year you get snow, you'd be OK. The stock pirellis I had on my '06 were pretty aweful in snow or even rain when it got cold out, but you can always throw a bunch of weight in the trunk for extra traction. If you were in Minnasota or somewhere that gets real snow then I'd invest in snow tires.

Snow tires are a huge improvement . . . I'd keep my eyes open for a deal on Craig's List, they do come up from time to time . . . better yet a set of relatively cheap winter wheels with snow tires so you can easily swap them over yourself in the fall and spring

Taurus police interceptor wheels will fit after having a local machine shop change the hub bore diameter (I paid $40 to have it done). I grabbed the wheels - with stock Goodyear all seasons still attached - for $400 and sold the tires for $200. Look sooooo much better than "plain" steels and they are built super tough.

This is the first time I've ever heard of a wife wanting a Mustang and the husband not wanting it. Its usually the opposite.

Put it in valet mode and hide the keys.
