This is right out of the '11/12 Owners manual. I drove it like I stole it right off the lot.....no issues in 12,000+ miles.
BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 100 miles (160 km) before performing
extended wide open throttle maneuvers and at least 1,000 miles
(1,600 km) before towing a trailer or before performance/competition
conditions. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to
Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.
Do not add friction modifier compounds or special break-in oils since
these additives may prevent piston ring seating. See Engine oil in the
Maintenance and Specifications chapter for more information on oil
usage.

But dont forget, CHECK YOUR OIL!!!!! These cars like to burn a bit of oil during break in, some worse than others. Mine only ate 1qt in about 3,000mi but I have seen some report more. Its always safe to just check and keep the level topped off
I actually had to drive mine on the highway from 15mi on the odometer. Put 250 miles of varied highway driving that I actually believe helped the breakin. Did some WOT runs when I got her home after the drive as well. Car stopped burning oil pretty early and pulls pretty hard. Gets 21mpg average so I think she broke in pretty well.
Just drive her like normal and give some good revs early on and she'll be fine.

Thought I'd report in here on my experience thus far. 12 GT 6MT built last week of Feb. I have about 1400 miles on the clock. I have been keeping the revs down, no full throttle runs. No long extended trips and keeping the speed varied. I have been checking the oil regularly. The factory fill was only 1/2 way up the dipstick. Today I added 1/2 qt of oil as it was all the way at the lowest mark after being parked on a level surface for two hours.

Same here at 15k. I followed the manual like you posted and made sure I was takin it to redline at least once/day. Up and out = no laboring to get there. Mixed with mostly 2 lane twisty where I was shifting frequently and mixing speeds, and some freeway - but definitely NOT extended freeway at the same speed. First oil chg @ 700 mi.

My car just turned 600 miles. I'm glad that I read about checking the oil during break in. The last thing I would want is low oil level. I've kept an easy foot on the throttle so far, yet I can tell it's a screamer.
