Got 14 a couple weeks ago.I live in a small town where you just can't get a deal.I looked within a 300 mile radius and found one about 120 miles away.I researched for over a month watching prices.I had an xplan pin but did most of the haggling over the phone.I think you did real good, maybe could of gotten an extra 1k off, really depends on the dealership and how willing you are to just walk out.
They tried slipping in extras on me but i had done all my research.I have no problems telling them to slow down,go over the sales invoice line by line, bring my own calculator and notepad full of info.I would have no problem just walking away from a deal if it wasn't what i wanted.
My msrp was around 31.6 and i got it for 27.5.About $400 better than xplan price.Buying a car is an emotional experience for most people and it is real easy to get caught up in the whole process,i think salespeople count on that, throw so many numbers around it makes your head spin.I actually kind of enjoy the haggling.
Dealers and salespeople need to make money and there are plenty of hidden fees and bonuses dealers get,so they always make money.
Grats on your car,in the end if you are happy with the car, thats all that matters.

On average paying factory invoice minus available incentives is a good price. Depending on region/dealer/time of year there is some variation but think of that ballpark as a starting point.

Wilson, very wise words. Listen to Shelby, he's got to be the oldest and most experienced guy here. Don't lose sleep, and enjoy the car. Your not the first, and definitely not the last to make a little blunder when buying a new vehicle.

CamsGt- You got the deal I wish I had. It seems that we got the same exact GT(bare bones base). My MSRP was about $31,600 as well. I should have gotten it in the $27,000- $27,500 ball park range as well. You did very well. I didn't know there was a rebate and the dealer included it in his advertised price for $28,500. I tried to get T&T added in bringing it effectively to $27,000 but they weren't having it. I didn't realize that I paid MSRP minus the rebate until I left and studied the invoice. I know, I know, it was dumb of me not to study it BEFORE I signed. I won't make the same mistake twice. I paid $30,000 even including T&T.

wanted33- You're absolutely right! Thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm trying not to let it influence enjoying my car. I will get over it soon. It is such a sharp car and like you guys said everybody gets jipped a little at some point in life. Thanks for giving me perspective!!

Oh god.... Please don't let Joel's head swell up all the way from Cali to Iowa. He doesn't need more pumping up

I ordered a 2014 Base GT w/3.73's and Recaro's only on 04-11-2013.
MSRP was $33,535.00, Invoice of $31,493.40.

Once I started playing the dealers off against each other, I was able to strike a deal of $500 below invoice at $30,993.40, less the $750.00 coupon and $2,000.00 in rebates came out to $28,243.40 before taxes, etc.

I'll see if they actually stick to the agreement once the car arrives though.
If they do, then I'm sure they will push me hard for the extended warranties, paint protection, insurance etc.....

You can always join MCA for $50, which then entitles you to X-Plan pricing (no-haggle), no dealer's fee, only a small admin fee, like $75. Plus you can go onto Ford.com and request that they send you a brochure (via USPS) and tell them you are buying within the next 30 days, then there's a good chance Ford will send you a coupon for $750 or more in Private Cash. This way you get X-plan, minus incentives, minus Private Cash.

For instance..

My 2013 GT’s MSRP with all options listed in my signature was $41,600. However, I bought it for the X-plan price of 39,033,less total rebates/incentives and private cash of $2,750, making the final price $36,283.

Wow, 4 months is quite a wait... I'm about 2.5 weeks into my order, guessing June delivery.

You track the car? Or just liked the track package and Recaros?

It's not guaranteed that they will extend a Private Cash offer to everyone that requests a brochure, but it has always worked for me. I used one to buy my wife's 2011 stang and another one more recent when I bought my 2013 stang.

2014 DIB V6 /w Performance package ( and all weather floor mats lol ) ran me 23,199 OTD. Not terrible i suppose. The dealer gave me "invoice" pricing on everything. With tax, options, dest&delivery, etc.. the car would been have 26,747. Current rebate which I qualified for was 1500 and I had a 750 off coupon.
