Thanks for the info. Mine was already rusted when I got the car as it had sat on the dealer lot for about six months before I bought it. I would like to paint all of the rusty stuff but didn't know if I could get enough of the surface rust off to let the paint stick. Did you mask off any of the brake lines or just painted over the top of them? Did you put on a primer first or just the VHT paint?

to apply...it's very easy to use and it encapsulates the rust and turns the
rusted parts a dark bluish black color. The rust won't come back but the
manufacturer does recommend a coating of good paint after curing.
I can give you a link to the chemical if you are interested.

I "primed" the rusty rear axle on my 2014 'stang with a rust neutralizing chemical that I use for many rusted things around home. I use a paint brush

least 2 coats if you have time. There are other uses around home for this
stuff....but the shelf life is only a few months.

I had a piece of cardboard with me from around the shop that would block off some overspray to some places with one hand while I painted with the other but no taping off, anything else I didn't want sprayed, a rag and brake fluid takes it right off. Even sprayed over ford sticker on the diff and brake fluid cleaned that up perfect to. Just vht and the rust isn't hard to get off, it's very minor surface rust.
This is what I use...you don't have to mask off things, but I would do at
least 2 coats if you have time. There are other uses around home for this
stuff....but the shelf life is only a few months.

the "Rust Neutralizer" at the time you are going to use it. The shelf life
deal is very important! I would only use this seller. I made the mistake of
buying some, that was cheaper, on the popular internet auction site "e--y"
and totally wasted my money.......fresh product makes a difference.
