How To Lubricate Clutch Pedal?

Hey guys,

My clutch pedal like many other Mustangs clicks when you depress it. The click is definitely coming from the pedal assembly by the driver's foot well. When I took it in last year, they were able to lubricate/grease it to minimize the clicking, but it's back. It seems like a trivial fix I have to do every few months and I don't want a dealer "test driving" my car to confirm the fix every time. Has anyone here looked into this? Does anyone have a grease they recommend or a specific place in the pedal assembly they suggest?

Thanks!

I would suggest removing the assist spring, better pedal feel, no worry of it sticking down, and no clicking.
http://www.boss302forum.com/topic/14...how-to-fix-it/ this details how if you are interested.

I deleted my assist spring tonight as per the thread listed above... you really should do the same. It's much better. Here, I made a graph:

The green line is after you remove the helper spring. As you can see, with the [before] line, the engagement point has no real correlation with clutch effort. It's kind of a crapshoot. Afterwards, though, the highest effort point matches with the engagement point.

Effort overall is just a smidge more, though. I wouldn't say 10%. Maybe 8%.

Interesting, so the click comes from the assist spring..

I'm definitely down to try - would this just make the clutch pedal feel like my buddy's 2008 GT? Kind of want a feel for the 'after' first :P Also, removing the assist spring doesn't look easily reversible?

Hey guys, I had some time to take a look at the clutch pedal. Turns out the clicking is 90% from the plastic tab behind the clutch pedal. It's a circular plastic tab that's the closest to the floor mats. I'm guessing it's the clutch pedal lockout for starting the car? Pushing that tab by hand doesn't seem very loud, but when the clutch pedal acts on it it clicks. Is there any way to silence this? I know in a friend's 2012 it isn't as loud...

Maybe some liquid wrench or some other kind of white lithium grease.

I tried putting some lithium grease, didn't seem to help much. It's when the clutch pedal arm makes contact with the tab that causes most of the noise. Maybe I should stick some foam in between..

Is it possible to take a picture of the tab your talking about, I doubt foam would stop the clicking.
