How long to get special order? Post if you have experience

I did a search for this and found bupkiss. It certainly seems like there should some kind of a list of horror stories and successes. I've heard 6 to 8 weeks. Recently my dealer quoted me 12 weeks if all goes right. When I was taken aback by 12 weeks, they said they could FAST TRACK IT! Yeah I know that means, "put a rush" on it, but I just done see a company that size saying, "Hurry up, Eric really wants his car today...Hurry...Hurry. What the hell does that mean????

Please share your experiences or your estimations as to how they are doing at filling orders currently.

I ordered July 3. If it comes in just over a month, I'll be ecstatic. I'm thinking early Sept.

My dealership is an 8 hour drive from Detroit, and they've been around forever so may have a little extra "pull" but i think the ramp 51 bs is over. More than likely if you car was ordered after a certain date (end of may-early june) you're probably looking at a 4-6 week wait. So long as you're not in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere ordering from a brand new dealership.

Thats my guess anyhow

I was quoted 6-8 weeks. I'm just over 8 weeks but it is hopefully just a day or two away based on my last update and updates from ppl on this site in the area.

It is all based on your dealers current allocation, now that the retail order verification process has ended. Commodities restrictions will also make a difference.

7 weeks from order to my garage. It was built after 5 and sat at the plant for two weeks.

All you have to do is check the VIN, build thread. This has more answers than you need.

Over three weeks since my order, and still no VIN... is that normal or should I be concerned?

For a Job 2, 2010 GT...
I ordered June 8. I received September 22nd. 4 months (16 weeks). Long wait, but worth it as soon as I sat in the car.

I was told 4-6 weeks when I ordered mine back in May. On my 8th week right now and I am probably still 2 solid weeks away from my car being built. At best, I still have another month or so till I get mine.

I've been ordering our dealership's Mustangs for several years now and have ordered Fords in general for many years. Now that the model year is well under way and supply has caught demand, it's safe to quote 6-8 weeks from order to delivery. Some will come quicker, some will come later, but 6-8 weeks for 80% of the orders. As Karpro said, dealer allocation and commodity restrictions will affect individual orders at your local dealer.

< 12 weeks isn't a bad estimate. Remember that we had all the hoopla about holds and such that caused lots of delays back in April. You could always call around and see if anyone might have a car coming in that matches what you want to order, if you haven't tried that already.

Yikes! That totally blows man, hope yours gets delivered soon. You've had a crazy longer wait than a lot of us.

It seems 12 weeks is a good time to expect. mine took around 9.

Ask your sales guy if he can order it as dealer stock instead of a customer order. Ive read from several places that dealer stock gets #1 priority for a dealers allocated units.

Doubtful.

Keep in mind, you ordered during the 2 week plant shut down.
So from July 1st to July 14th they build no cars.

After that, they will come back and finish the cars they started and then start building the cars that were ordered in late June, then those in the beginning of July.
Chances are they won't even get to yours until early to mid September with a best case scenario of delivery in late September to early October. But you are in Chicago, so that's an easy 1 day truck ride from Detroit.

I know this because I ordered mine July 1st and from the second largest Ford dealer in So Cal.
So they have a pretty large allotment and I don't expect mine until mid September at best.

It's a bit amazing how much variance there is in delivery dates posted here though. People waiting 18 weeks is ridiculous. I ordered my BMW's and got them in 8-9 weeks and they had to come over on a boat from Germany, pass customs and all the red tape, and then be trucked to the dealer after that.
Cars built here in America that don't have to be put on a boat for 1-2 weeks and pass through the red tape that is U.S. Customs, but just have to be shipped via truck should be 6-8 weeks max.
