If you spend all day at 90+ than these gears are probably not for you. But in reality the amount of time I get to spend at those speeds is very little. However the car is still comfortable and quiet at those speeds even with the gt500 axlebacks.
(This is to both the OP and shotzy) - what tires are you guys running? If I'm not careful, it's easy to break loose and get absolutely no traction even with stock gears in the auto. Are you finding that it is especially bothersome with 4.10s?

You're inching me towards sending the 3.73s back and going 4.10s.

I went from the 3.31's to 4.10s, so I can't comment on the 3.73s.

I've broken traction a few times in my 3.31's as well, so I'm not noticing a huge difference..but maybe someone who is a better driver can comment.

I'm running the stock 18" all seasons.

I am running 275/35/20 back and 255/35/20 front michelin pilot all seasons. They have much better grip then the stockers and traction is not really a problem. With the stock 19's I could chirp 1-4 pretty easily. I have the 6mt.

So assuming you are in 6th gear, at 80 mph you are around 2800 rpm or so? Is that not annoying?

No not really. If you drive other cars you will probably notice that most of them would be at that RPM at 80 as well. I know my honda pilot is and my friends 528xi also runs at that rpm also.

This engine just runs at extremely low rpms for gas mileage.

you really don't even notice it.
