How fast did you burn through the stock tires?

Those are the tires I was thinking of buying very soon but then Michelin released the A/S 3 which are getting praise for being almost as good as summer tires (not the very best of curse) but with non of the issues of summers when temperature drops below 45 degrees. Now I'm undecided. I really like the grip and "snap" of summer tires but debating how much grip do you really need for a street driven car. I don't drive my car on snow but I would like the confidence of all-season tires when driving at temperatures below 45. I live in New England by the way.

I put 200 miles on them and that was because I was waiting for my replacements. Once those arrived the stock wheels and tires were sold off.

That sounds pretty much like my experience. Running Ventus v12's now, grip seems similar and I get 20k+ miles.

I don't have an S197, but after years of owning SN95s, I am used to buying a set of tires a year. I typically drive about 15k miles a year, decently moderate driving mixture of freeway and city, and 2-3 rotations a year. I replace them at about 20-25% tire life left - being that neither of my SN95s have TC, I've spun a couple times in my old V6 - I don't plan on repeating the deed in my GT.

How do you like the grip? Is the lateral/longitudinal performace much improved over stock tires? I've been eying the same tire in the 275/40/19 size.

Definitely call Tire Rack and ask for Luke Pavlik ( ext. #4362 ) . He has been a track rat/autocrosser for years, but is a staple there ( long, long time employee ). He will shoot you straight about what would work great on your Mustang.

No surprise on tire wear, and I won't even list how few miles I got on mine ------

Grip is pretty darn good not as good as say a Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 but they definitely hold their own and in the wet too. Compared to stock they are an improvement...not much of one in the dry but much better in the wet than the stock Pirelli. Only down side I have noticed is they are a bit heavier.

Why not the 285's they are not much more?

P zero Nero

I just purchased a mustang GT,300 miles on it. It came with parelli p zero Nero. I don't know anything about the tires, but they ride great and they hook up very nicely and ride seems fine.
One thing I have learned is,if you like the car with the current tires buy them again,I made just this mistake on a older car, saved $200 but had a hard ride and worse handling EVERY DAY for a small savings. Wasn't worth it. Just buy the OEM tires if they worked out well.

Xar, did you rotate them often and per recommended miles?

Mine have 5900 miles on them and rotated once I think. Visually, still look good. I was hoping they WOULD wear out soon lol.... I wanna get a better set. What set do most folks go with???

Good point. Tire rack has 285/35-19 in stock for $237. Hmm, if I got 285 route I'd love to get Bridgestone Potenza RE11s. But they are costly at $309 each. For the money sounds like the BFGs are a better value. Glad to hear you like them. Sounds like I really wouldn't go wrong either way.

Here is one that only lasted 2700 miles!! Just found this yesterday.
Fortunately I purchase the wheel and tire road hazard warranty and the tire will be replaced monday for free. I paid $350 for the warranty...it's almost paid for itself! It will more than pay for itself if I curb a wheel too

they wore even and were rotated every 5k miles. I'm still looking into what tires I'm gonna get...

I'm at 15k and my rears are just about cooked. Too lazy to rotate them. In fact, someone mentioned to me if I never plan to rotate I should go for some wider tires in the rear. I sometimes experience the inevitable wheel hop and I've read better tires may help alleviate the issue. Not too concerned about wear life - if I could get 20k out of them I'd be happy!

So I had to fight the wheel and tire road hazard warranty company because they said the nail wasnt close enough to the sidewall, but finally got it replaced! Just looking at the new tire, I can see a noticeable difference in tread depth. The car only has 2700 miles on it! This tells me these tires will be bald QUICK. I drive the car hard, but I've only done like 3 burnouts. They were loss of traction burnouts and not the purposeful smokey burnouts. I am going to get my tread depth gauge out and measure them this week.

My BBP tires lasted 15k miles rotating them every 5k. I didn't abuse them either. I switched them for Continental DWS:

I'm considering getting them. How are you liking them? I see good reviews, but some put them down too.

I have a vibration at 60+ mph with the stock tires. Been road force balanced twice and little improvement. 17K miles on them, the tread looks good, but the vibration isn't major, but bothers me. Plus they seem to be getting louder and i'm noticing traction is weakening too. Time to make a change.
