Heck my stock black plastic bumper doesn't match my rear fender either.

But yes white is worse. Just look at these cars in direct sun. Especially if when they have the stock hood vents or for a white GT/CS the fender vents are always the worst match. It's the plastic and them metal.

Problem with you car Eric is gonna be the fender. It's not gonna match the door now. It's accepted that the bumper cover won't match, like you say it already didn't.

I was told that since mine was vandalism - and no report was filed - that it wouldn't show up on carfax. Wouldn't that be the same for a comp claim over a deer?

I honestly have no idea. But if it did show up in some mysterious way someday, it would be good to have pics to show the damage was cosmetic.

I know it may be slightly OT - but I'm kind of anti-Carfax. Sure it's good for odometer rollbacks, etc - but the accident stuff is worthless. My wife's Jeep came w/ a clean Carfax, but there's plenty of signs of front end repairs if you know what you're looking for. So obviously you can get a clean Carfax on a damaged vehicle. On the other end of the spectrum, you can have the most minor of accidents, a bumper cover gets replaced and since it shows up on Carfax it scares people away. Think about how many of us replace our stock bumper cover w/ a GT/CS one, or upgrade the v6 cover to the GT, etc... The car is no less damaged than the one that had a bumper ding, but not according to Carfaux.

OK, so deer are just stupid. What I can't figure out are the raccoons. They're supposed to be pretty clever but you see dead ones on the side of the roads fairly frequently. Suicides?

You are, of course, right. And I do plan to save my photos for that "some day" when I sell it (hopefully for a GT500 or Boss 302), to show just how minor it was.

Back in 1992 I sold my '85 IROC, in which I'd been run off the road by a drunk driver 2 years earlier. As sold, it had a fairly new paint job (all over, no blasted blending! ), and the photos backed up my story that I'd gone through a bunch of brush that scratched up about 90% of the car and punctured holes in the plastic bumpers, but that there was little sheet metal damage. The buyer (who was 1st to come look at the car) appreciated that and, of course, ended up buying the car, paying near top dollar for it (unique combo of BW-T5 & TPI & Recaro seating).

the deer was not stupid. This guy made the deer jump in front of you.

I had my car on the frame straightener with over 5k in damage and it comes back clean on the ol carfax report. You really have to inspect used cars before you buy them.

I always try to remind people that carfax is a helpful guide.
It is NOT an absolutely accurate record.

UPDATE: My body shop successfully filed a claim supplement to also replace the aluminum hood in lieu of trying to bend it back. That added over $1600 to the claim, which now totals – get this – $4362.36!! That is just plain nuts!!

And that's with me declining the rental car, which I had coverage for. Can you just imagine?!?
