Sorry, but you are wrong.
S-197 is the program name for the 2005 Mustang
D2C is the platform designation.

Talking about new body styles
19641/2 Introduced
1965 addition of fastback, new engine 200 cid, other trim changes, Special edition Gt 350
1966 new grill, side chrome changes, dash changes, changes to GT 350 (colors and rear seat), SE high country special introduced.
1967 all new body style/ wheel base, nuff said: Special edition GT 500, redo of the GT 350 (new engines in both)
1968 new grill, side chrome changes, new engine (302), special editions: Calif special. Intro of the over 400 CID for production stangs
1969 New body style, New GT 350/500's, Intro of the Mach 1, Boss 302, Boss 429, Grande
1970 Again a new body style (kind of), Twister special, GT delete not an option to get anymore, we are on the downside now
1971 The beginning of the Bloated era: New body style, No more Shelby's, Only Boss 351 survives.
1972/3 basically some cosmetic changes, No Bosses, No Shelby's, Save fuel, reduced compression ratio, the end is here.
And we at the 05+ crowd see a bunch changes. I remember when you could look at either a 64 1/2 to 1971 and could tell what year it was, no matter what view you had. Now at least the 05, 06 and 07's are basically the same outside wise. Engine wise as well.
Well, my .02 anyway

My how things have changed since January. When I originally posted this (1st post of this thread), rumors abounded that a Boss or Mach 1 was just around the corner.
Since stangsunleashed.com posted those articles about a new Mach or Boss was coming out (dec 05), nothing new has been heard.
Oh well.

With Ford taking another loss, who knows how that will affect changes to all the lines. Word was that a hybrid Fusion was "just around the corner."
Nothing is said about that now. Why not a hybrid Focus and/or 500?
Would a real 'coupe' add anything to Mustang line?
