Help! Map Light question...

Help! Map Light question...
Okay... so I noticed the other day when opening the trunk that my trunk light is not working. Replaced the bulb (which looked good to me), but nothing.
Last night I noticed that my map lights are not working either, BUT, the map lights do come on when I turn the interior illumination dial all the way up, or when I stop the engine and exit the vehicle.
Are there TWO different bulbs? May it be a fuse?
If so, does anyone know what fuse it would be?
The only feasible fuse I can think of (according to the owner's manual) is fuse #9 (Courtesy Lamps)... any other suggestions or ideas?
Thanks for any help...

Nope, it's one bulb.
If they don't come on via the button itself- but do from another source (door opens and brightness control) it's probably the buttons not working properly.
You can investigate yourself, by just yanking down on thing. It sounds bad- but it really isn't. I've done it 4-5 times now- as I replaced mine for LEDS.
Check this video to show you...
Otherwise, take it into the service department.

Okay... checked the fuse today, but fuse in intact. I only checked #9, as this is the only fuse which really makes sense.
Why do I almost think that there is a wire unplugged or broken. Trunk light and map lights not working.
It's just funny, as the dome lights will come on when I'm opening either door... so if it's one bulb, it's definitely not the bulb.
Any other ideas???
I think it's time for the dealership!

Check fuse 25, it is for demand lighting. If that is not it I would be taking it to the dealer.
The radio quit working in my 2005 F350, it ended up being the module that controlled the 10 minute timer after it was shut off, the part was $1300. Sure am glad it was under warranty.

I guess I will crawl into this tiny hole again... I'm still puzzled that they put that darn fuse box in such an odd place! Everything else is working fine, including the LED lights, dome lights (only when doors opened), radio, etc.
That's why it's so confusing... made an appointment for next Tuesday at the dealer to have it checked out... unless it's fuse # 25...
Thanks for the hint... I'll give it a try!

Yep... it was just a fuse! Just was tired of it crawling around and took it to the dealer this morning. It was some fuse in the 20's... possible #25!
Dealer took care of it right away... at no cost to me!

I was struggling with this exact same problem tonight and yes it was fuse #25. Yesterday I thought I had checked every fuse in the block but somehow I missed this one. Thanks for posting this info. It saved me a lot of time.
And yes you have to be a contortionist to get to the fuse block on the passenger side kick panel. Not everyone is youthful and limber. It makes absolutely no sense why Ford cannot put the fuses in an easier to access location.

Ford does this in other vehicles as well (fuse box location in passenger kick panel). In my 2005 F150, it's also in that same spot. My reasoning is that it's in a dry place, close to the battery. They could have placed it under the hood, but that may get it wet when the hood is opened in rainy weather. These days it's rare for a fuse to blow, unless someone overloads a circuit by tapping into a load (hot) side and over drawing amperage on that circuit. If that fuse blows again, I'd be looking for what is causing the high amp load. Check the trunk for any wires that are rubbing or chaffed. Start with the trunk light. Maybe something moved about in the trunk that you placed in it and pinched a wire.
