Hello All
I'm new here. I have had a Mustang for now 2 years. I don't drive it much because I'm usually driving to haul stuff for work (ladders, signs, etc). but I noticed the bottom end isn't as snappy as before. When I first got it.. my daughter told me when she drove it "this thing doesnt' like to be driven slow". She came back 1 year later and said it was laggy. I noticed under a load like going up a hill it would sputter a bit. Once a little honda flagged me to race and blew his doors off.. but under the hard acceleration a check engine light came on. Using a tuner I bought showed an error code I somehow lost (it was a cylinder misfire.. which cylinder I can't recall). I figured it was time for plugs and coil change. Since I had a tuner ... I got a JLT in this weekend and now I need a tune (hoping to wake the beast up a little bit). However.. I'm stumped on where to get a tune. I learned now.. you need to most likely purchase a tune (I have an SCT blue tooth tuner that plugs into obd port). What is reasonable for a tune for just adding a CAI? Any recommended reputable places? I saw some places charge north of 250.... I think that is downright criminal. I know adding horsepower is not cheap but c'mon I'm not tearing into the engine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Mustangs forever!!!

Welcome to the site . . . The SCT tuners do have setting for common aftermarket intakes so you might be able to adjust it yourself. But the SCT canned tunes are also known for not being very good, so other alternatives are probably better.
"Lito" is very good with remote tuning on the 4.6L V8 but I guess that's not what you have, not sure based on the section you posted this in. He charges $100-150, just to give you an idea on price.
You will probably get feedback that remote tuning is not good; but for something simple like an aftermarket intake it should be OK. Brenspeed and Steeda also offer remote tuning. Local dyno tune is supposedly the "best" (depending on the skill of the guy doing it) but I think those run $200 and up.
Regarding the performance issues, make sure the basic maintenance items are up to date -- change fuel filter (depending on your model car) ; clean air filter ; clean the MAF sensor ; run a can of fuel injector cleaner through it just for grins.

I know this might be a little late. But I second the Steeda Tune.
I had a Bama and was not that impressed with it. I had issues with my car losing power on a hard acceleration, it would completely die and once I took my foot off the pedal it would hesitate for a few seconds and then kick back in. When I called Bama and explained my issues they said it wasn't their tune and that their tune was spot on.
When I did the 2018 Intake manifold swap. Bama basically told me they could not do a tune for that,
I contacted Steeda and they said they were able to provide one for me. Suffice it to say my Mustang is running strong and I have never had another issue with power loss.
