Heel and Toe

How do YOU do it? / or \ ?

Any tips other than "keep practicing"? I wear size 12.5 but it still feels awkward and difficult to cover the gap.

How long until it became second nature for you guys?

Thanks

I'm by far not the best at it but I watched a few YouTube videos and went out and practiced. It's almost second nature but practicing is the best way to get good at it.

It will feel a little weird but you can also use more the side of your foot if it is wide enough and with a 12.5 it should be. I learned on my own when I was younger but he is right watch a couple of the YouTube vids and see how it looks on there.

\ It shouldn't take too long to get used to it... a few weeks maybe. Just keep at it.

Twisting the foot. The toughest part to learn is how to do it without disturbing your brake input.

Someone out there that races his Mustang had to make pedal extensions to be able to heel/toe his effectively since the factory pedals aren't really set for doing it.

Alright. Thanks, fellas

Practice... we talkin' about practice? we talkin' about practice... practice, man (Iverson joke)

Biggest difficulty for me right now is giving it throttle while still focusing on braking. It feels like when I first started learning manual, when I could never depress the clutch AND brake at the same time... only this is harder.

Are you wanting to learn this so you can track your car more effectively or just to play?

this.

I use my big toe to apply pressure to the brake, and roll the last 2 toes on my foot onto the gas for a throttle blip. Does take some practice, and make sure you wear wide enough shoes, lol!

To be clear, I'm using the toes/ball of my foot on the brake and rotating my heel to the gas, not rolling off the side of the brake. This ensures your foot won't accidentally slip off the brake (and onto the gas).

My legs are quite long, so when I rotate, my knee hits the under-dash. On my 04 I can have my foot over both, so that's what I do.

I put my heel on the brake, and use the ball/toes on the gas.

Takes a bit of practice to get it smooth, have to relearn how to brake using your heal. I practiced on a private road, and well... the braking was very awkward and almost put my face in the steering wheel a few times, lol.

My pointer - it helps to adjust your seat and tilt on the steering wheel (especially if you're tall)

I wear a size 11, and my foot doesn't rotate either direction all that well, so I use the ball of foot (under the first metatarsal head) to hit the brake, and the lateral side of the ball of the foot to blip the throttle. It was NOT possible on the standard GT500 pedals my car had, so replaced them with some billet aftermarket pieces, and just recently moved the gas pedal further to the left (outboard) so I can hit it reliably. On the street, no brainer, on the track, I don't always get my foot lined up correctly (mostly the G forces at work), and occasionally am not able to blip the throttle because of that.

I have seen both the pedals with extensions, and the ones with a 'fence' vertically down the face of the gas pedal, so you know how far over to place the foot, and can reach both.

These are the pedals I got:
