heating up stock tires
Going to run my car tomorrow in the 1/4... I've heard not to do a burnout on stock tires, but what about in the colder weather? Temp is gonna be in the low 50's.

My recommendation for the stock tires would be if you see smoke thats too much heat. Just clean the water back off if you can't drive around it or dry hop them, that worked the best for me.

thx for the feedback.. hopefully it's not to packed and I can get a few runs in and try a light burnout and a run with no burnout at all.. launching is an art that I need practice at.. people think running the 1/4 is so easy.. it's definitely easier said than done.. hoping to pull a 13.2 or less... gotta get that good 60'!!

I never smoke them. My recommendation is to just pass thru the water box. Spin the tires out of the box up to the staging lights (a little before the lights). That's always worked best for me.

ON street tires above about 45 degrees all you need is a scuff to clean off any dust, dirt or rocks. Do NOT drive through the water box. When you do so, water accumulates in your sipes and tread grooves. This will effect your launch.
If you are forced to drive through a water box, spend a little more time cleaning the tires. You may also want to experiment on where you stage. Some tires like to be in the groove and others don't.
Though, depending on the track, they may require you to run outside the groove on street tires.

Orlando SpeedWorld.. can't pretend I know the first thing about track prep... but I heard this isn't the best prepped track... in line now.. long line, probably only get one run in..

Here's a tip on launching.
Hold RPM's at about 2500
Release clutch as quickly as possible without moving the throttle at all yet
Tires should do a short spin, eek eek eek type of sound
Once the tires gain full traction, smoothly but quickly add full power
It takes a little practice to get the timing right but not too bad.

what a miserable night!!! driver mod needed.... more power and torque and worse ET and trap speed!!! couldn't hook up to save my life.... atleast thought my trap speed would be quicker with 25+ hp and 25+tq from my last time out.. uggghhhh.... I even wore my Nike air Jordan IV's!!!! and NOTHING!!! lmao...

maybe I need an all-wheel drive automatic with a trans brake.??? if that even makes sense.... hahhaha. guess going to the track once every 4-5 months isn't helping my cause either... compared slips and this just ain't right.. and I pumped them up 4x's!!! Jordan's are going back in the box after tonite!!!!

Drag tires and a prepped track are what you need.
Most tracks don't do any prep on the "run whatcha' brung" nights, only do prep on real race days or when they are running their bracket series.

13.7 @106.6!!!! 2.23 60'.....49degrees out.. last time I ran 13.4@107.7 in about 80degrees... the 13.4 was before VMP tune!!! car felt like it was kind slightly sputtering towards the last 50-100' of track... I reloaded my new VMP tune before I ran.. was wondering if that might be part of the issue.. car didint have time to adjust for thinner colder air.. it was about 80degrees the day VMP tuned the car.. dunno, can't figure this one out..
